x-posted on Pregnancy Loss board

Hi. I had a miscarriage almost three weeks ago. I was almost 5 weeks, and the day I started bleeding my HCG was 44. So, really low. I had a follow up 2 days later and it was at 52. Then 9 days later it was at 49. My doctor is concerned that my levels are staying level. I had another blood test today (I don't have the results yet), and an appointment with my doctor next week.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, was there anything wrong?

I ask because my appointment isn't until next Thursday. She wanted to get me in Tuesday, but I am going to be out of town. And I guess she would tell me if it was more urgent than that, but it's still heavy on my mind.

Any thoughts?

My doctor did say that I might have to have a D&C, which really surprised me, since I was only 5 weeks along. Is that normal?

there might be a piece of retained tissue that is causing your levels to stay elevated. That might be why your doctor is discussing a D&C. I hope you find some answers soon.

HUGS I am so sorry for what you are going through...

I had a very simular situation. On Aug 29th I got my BFP... My levels were 30, on the second blood draw they were 90... the third they were 93. So we knew something was wrong. I waited another week... finally started to bleed. I bleed light-med for three days. I took a another HPT... Blaring Positive.... I called the Dr.. They brought me in for another blood draw. It was 60's the next week 50's... the third week still in the 50's. My Dr wanted to do a d/c.. (I had a d/e with my second loss.. I didn't want another.. my body took over 7 months to get back to a "normal"). It took over 5 weeks from the first 3 days of bleeding, for my body to fully m/c.

If your body is holding on to the pregnancy you may need a d/c. I would have had one if I started to run a fever.. or feel sick. But I never did. And my body came through. I meet with a RE after I started to m/c.. He did do a u/s to make sure my uterus was clean, and everything did look ok.

HUGS again I am so sorry for your loss.. and you are going through this.

With my second loss I had that exact same problem.. I had left over tissue that my body didn't cleanse and it took about a month after I first started bleeding before I went to the Dr for answers and they did blood work and my numbers were still rising.. Because of how high they were he thought for sure I was still pregnant and did an ultrasound and couldn't find the baby in uterus or the tubes so he said it was a possible eptopic and they gave me a round of methotrexate to help me shed it all.. Good luck hun..

I haven't talked to my doctor yet, but I just got on my insurance website and my results are there. It was down to 7 today. So I'm thinking that means I won't have to have a D/C. Thankfully! Thanks for your comments.
