Did you have a natural miscarriage at home or did you go through a d & c? If natural, how long did it take for you to miscarry once the baby was no longer viable?

I had a d & c in February after loosing my baby at 11 weeks. The doc said the baby's heart stopped about a week before.

This time I am 7 weeks, but went yesterday for the first u/s and there was just an empty sac. Doc said there is a small chance the dates are off, but in my heart I know that is not the case. In a way I dont' want to go through another d & c but I also don't want to wait several weeks to see what my body will do. My hormone levels are high, so I don't know how long it would take for them to drop and for me to miscarry. I don't want to wait too long as I'd like to put it all behind me.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I was 7w3d with my first one and i chose to have a natural m/c (thought doctor recommended D&C). Bleeding lasted 6 days. My levels dropped in 3 weeks.

I was only 5w with my second one and also had a natural m/c. I bleed for 4 days but it was very painful.

I have gone through both. Honestly the D&C was over quicker and I seemed to recover and my body bounced back better. I think for each person it is different though.

I had a D&C this passed Friday. I had almost no bleeding/pain. However I now have an infection. I wonder if I had allowed my body to misscarry on my own if I would have gotten an infection. I am sorry for your loss.

I had a natural mc because I'm that type of person who hates all things medical unless they are absolutely necessary. A D&C would have traumatized me more than I already was. With my first and only pregnancy, I pretty much found out I was pregnant then miscarried a week later. I was probably around 4 weeks. I never had an ultrasound, so I don't know exactly how far or even if there was ever an actual baby in there or if there was just a sac.

I was 5w6d and I miscarried naturally. My numbers dropped very quickly and I had five days of heavy bleeding that was very clotty. The doctor said that my body was "efficient" and knew what it had to do. Not the greatest way to put it but I know it can be very different for everyone. I am sorry about your losses

I m/c naturally at about 5 weeks and it was not that painful, but I bled a lot with clots. I went in for another pregnancy at 10 weeks, but the baby had died weeks earlier. The baby had begun to calcify, and I was told it would be extremely painful to try to m/c naturally, so I had a D&C. After the D&C I was in horrible pain, like labor, but my cycle returned 4 weeks later, and I was able to get pregnant again. I think it really depends on the woman. I am sorry for your loss.

With my 1st it started by lighter tests, then all of a sudden one day I started cramping real bad and then had bleeding with clots. With my 2nd, I bled brown for a week before I lost it. Still had my symptoms and everything. Then I started cramping real bad, went to the potty and it came out and then the cramping stopped. I bled for a week after that. It took me 3 weeks after for my hcg to drop to under 5. I've never had a d&c so idk what would be "easier". I think I would perfer natural just because it's already painful and emotional as it is. I wouldn't want surgery to make the recovery process worse. But, that's just me. GL and I hope everything's ok for you. KUP!

I miscarried at 5 weeks and 2 days. My numbers never went up the way they should have. I knew I was pregnant for 2 weeks before I started to bleed. I miscarried naturally with no issues. I cramped up like my most painful AF for about 10 minutes and then went to the bathroom and passed a big clot that must have been the baby and my bleeding was about normal menstrual bleeding and was done around 6 days.

I did both... sorta. Actually I miscarried naturally at 11 wks but the pain was so severe I went to the ER where they did a D&C to remove the remaining items still in my uterus. I honestly can't really help you since I didn't realize I was actually m/c-ing until just a few hours before it happened so I honestly don't know when the baby actually died.

I had a D&C at 12w2d when we found out our baby had stopped growing at 8w5d. I think under ideal circumstances I would rather go through it naturally and avoid an invasive procedure like a D&C, but I just felt like my body was never going to get the picture if it hadn't figured it out after almost a month.

It is a very personal decision. Whatever you decide is the right choice. Did your doctor's suggest waiting at least a week to go in for another u/s and make sure your dates weren't off?

You are in my thoughts and prayers! Hugs.
