I just called my bank because my debit card is missing. It has been for several days. I've search and searched EVERYWHERE and can't find it. I haven't been too concerned because honestly there isn't any money in that account right now anyway so there was no way to use the card to get money. Well, there should be a deposit hitting the account in the morning, and since I still can't find it I wanted the card deactivated. When I called the bank and asked the woman to do this, she said she couldn't do it over the phone. I had to come in and talk to them in person to shut of the card.

WHAT?!?

Gee thanks for looking out for my saftey! I'm calling you and telling you that I believe someone stole my debit card, and asking you to shut it off and you say no! Keep in mind that they had no problem shutting it off (temporarily) while I was on vacation and THEY thought someone must have stolen it because it was being used on the east coast. I can't get to the bank until Monday at the very earliest and alot of damage could be done by then!
I started bawling and asked to talk to her supervisor. The supervisor quickly assured me that she could indeed shut my card off if I verified a few peices of information. What she couldn't do is issue a new card over the phone. That is fine! By all means, please do make me come in to get a new card so that you can verify that it's really me, but don't refuse to shut off a missing card!

There are times I love living in a rural area, but other times I really despise dealing with the uneducated idiots that live here!
For the record.... I am fairly certain that my debit card was stolen by my managers 15 year old son. She brought him to work with her the other day because her live in boyfriend refuses to be left alone with him and she can't trust him alone. He just got out of a juvenile detention center and decided to punch the boyfriend in the face for refusing to buy him something. While he was hanging around the store (in the employee break room) the other day my purse "fell" off the table and dumped the contents on the floor. He was "nice" enough to pick them all up and put them back inside.
I'm curious though....How did that happen when I always zip my purse closed at work and I sit it on the floor by the soda machine.... not unzipped and sitting on the table.
