This was our first pregnancy so I have couple of questions. I miscarried last week and I had my D&E on Tuesday. I was 8 weeks pregnant but the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks 3 days.

I had some bleeding on Tuesday and none since Tuesday. Is this normal? The doctor told me I would have bleeding like a period for couple of days.

I am still having real bad cramping pains since Tuesday. I called my doctors office today to see if I could get in since she said to call if I had bad cramping. I really haven't been able to do to much because of the cramping. When I called today all what she said is that she will call me in a pain pill.

I didn't even talk to the doctor. DH talked to her after my surgery. My surgery was supposed to last 20 mintues but it lasted almost two hours because the way my uterus is tilted she had to have u/s come in to help with the surgery. She told DH that we couldn't haven't sex for two weeks. I was just wondering if this is normal? We want to try again as soon as we can. Although I know hurting the way I am I can't do anything.

Thanks for listening ladies. I didn't know where else to really turn. DH is so worried about me with the cramping.

I had a D&C at 15 weeks, and really right after my bleeding wasn't too bad..I think it's normal for some people not to have a lot of bleeding...Mine ended picking up after awhile, but that's a different story...As far as the cramping goes, I'm trying to remember, but I think I too had some bad cramps after, and the thing that worked best for me was Ibprofen, that actually helped more than the pain pills...As far as the no sex that's normal...They say you risk infection if you have sex too soon...I think i'd wait the 2 weeks and if you aren't bleeding, it's probably safe to have sex again.

I didn't have a d&c, miscarried naturally so I don't know about the bleeding or cramping. I was told pelvic rest until I saw the OB, then no sex for 2wks. I didn't ovulate for 3wks though which I think is normal so I wouldn't worry about missing ovulation.
I'm sorry for your loss. This is a great group of girls though.

I went in for my 10 wk scan, and saw the baby died at 7w, 4d. I had a D&C. I had very little little bleeding, but VERY painful cramps. We waited until the bleeding stopped (a few days later) to have sex.

I had a D&C & I never cramped or hurt afterward & I did bleed for about 6 or so days so I can't really say if that is normal for you or not. It didn't happen to me but I can say that waiting 2 wks is VERY normal. That's what I was told as well as a lot of people on here. I think it is b/c they want to make sure you heal properly & don't want anything in there that could possibly give you an infection or irritate you after the surgery. I was told nothing in there... no tampons or anything at all.

I spotte after my D&C and had mild period like cramps. Three days later, I had stomach pains that where getting worse. I had zero engery, and could not stand or sit up striaght. I called the Drs office three times on Tuesday only to be told it was normal. I knew it wasnt. Wed I finally got an apt, I had an infection.

We were also told no sex for two weeks bc of the risk of infection. We waited over 3 because of the infection I already had.

I just recently learned a lot about D & C and the realm of "normal." I had mine on July 20th, after the baby died at 8 weeks and I waited three weeks to miscarry naturally. Since it wasn't happening, I had the D & C. Afterward, I had bad cramps and TONS of bleeding. I called the doc about a week after, to let them know how painful the cramps were and the fact that I was bleeding clots and was in quite a bit of discomfort. They saw me and all was "normal"...apparently the range of reactions from the D & C are quite broad. Some women cramp very badly for two weeks and then are fine, some bleed badly for two weeks and then it just stops, some spot, some don't cramp, some bleed and cramp, etc, etc. That is why they have you schedule a two week appt, so they can check to make sure all is fine in there and that the D & C went according to plan. I would give it a bit more time, especially if the doc is not worried (some of that cramping might also be due to your uterus being tipped, I have one as well and they have to "pull" it forward to clean it out and that can cause some cramping). If the cramps are not lessening in a few days, call again. Don't be afraid to ask millions of questions, this is YOUR body!!

And waiting two weeks to have sex is very normal. Your body needs time to heal without the possibility of infection or further damage.

Just for your reference, my bleeding finally stopped at 15 days post-operation. And the cramping is still present today, after 2.5 weeks. It is less than it was and I don't need pain pills anymore. The cramps that are left is because my uterus has not gone down all the way yet and it leans against my muscles on the left side. So that can be a factor too. I have my appt next Friday.

After my D&C I bled, passed clots and had pain for 4 weeks! I called the OB who did the D&C and I was told it was normal. I think "normal" is anything that happens!

I waited about 5 weeks after the D&C to have sex, but i was recommended to wait 2-3 weeks.

I had my D&C on Wednesday, and am still bleeding. It was actually lighter the first couple days after the procedure than it is now (I thought it was going to be the opposite). My doctor told me not to insert anything (tampons, sex, etc.) until after the post-op appointment. I couldn't get back in to see her until 3 weeks after the procedure (but the post-op appointments are usually 2 weeks later I think).

My cramping has been very minimal, thankfully. I don't typically get cramps even with my periods, though. The worst thing for mewas that I VERY consipated for a few days after the procedure. I think the pain from that overshadowed any cramping that I could've had!
