DH and I are quitting smoking today. I've been up now for about an hour and it's been a little rough, but it is getting easier as the minutes go by. One thing that is helping me a lot, besides being on the patch, is the deep breathing that I'm trying to do. It's a struggle to take a deep breath from the 17 years of smoking that I've been doing and it keeps the "quitting" alive. I know for the first few days it's going to be hard, really hard, but I'm DETERMINED to do this. If you girls don't mind, I would like to update this thread every day or every other day with how I'm doing. I think it will help me.

Well girls, it didn't last long. When DH came home from work I went to him for support and he basically started talking about himself. Not what I was looking for. So we got into a huge fight and I went and bought a pack of smokes. What kills me most is I explained to him what he did wrong and he hasn't even apologized to me. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother.

it's a hard thing to do, try again tomorrow. I'm 5yrs smoke free but I can assure you, it took me many tries before i did it.

Jess, we actually went to the Dr. and got a prescription for Chantix. I've used it before and know it works (I didn't follow through last time). We're starting it on Monday and I can't wait. With Chantix you can smoke for the first week while your on the medication. It's a really great medication for quitting smoking. I'll keep you girls posted on how it goes with it.

Good luck!!! You'll feel so much better once you quit...I used to smoke, on and off...It was easy for me to quit because I wasn't a heavy smoker, I did it more for stress, plus I was a closet smoker and no one knew I actually smoked...I quit on new years 2009 and i've felt so much better...I think it's almost tempting to start again, but it's really not that bad...You can do it!!!! (BTW I always quit while pregnant and nursing too, didn't want anyone to think I smoked then lol)
