So I went to my GP dr's appt today, she basically does a bi-monthly med check since I'm on pain meds and other meds. Basically to see how they're doing, check my BP, weight, and if any new or worsening symptoms are appearing since last appointment.

Well I found out also that I have some sort of sinus infection, my throat was red swollen along with the sinus pressure in my face and the build up of fluid in my ears... she then go figure Rx's some sort of decongestant, histaimine med which should help dry things up and hopefully help while I'm sick. (GEEZE!)

The dilemma is because O time should be happening soon I don't want to take it and dry up or thicken my CM... it's called Lowdrane24. Anyone hear of it before?

Oh BTW, she does know we're TTC so she always checks the meds before Rx'ing them

Oh boy, you have been through a lot lately sweetie. I would suggest calling the doctor and explaining your concerns with her. I don't know anything about your meds; just wanted to give you a big Hug!

Hi Celena,

Since lodrane24 is an antihistamine it will dry up all your secretions, including CM. It appears to be just for symptom control more than anything, not a curative measure (although if she is concerned you could develop an ear infection from the fluid in your ears she may be considering that as preventative).

I would think it would just be a judgment call for you, whether you are suffering enough that you need to take the medication during o time, or whether or not it can be managed with a netti pot or other alternative measures.

Best of luck with whatever you decide!

ETA that it is a catagory C drug meaning no controlled studies have been done on pregnant women and what little info seems to be available shows it is linked with increased risk of congenital defects in the baby if used in early pregnancy:

Hugs hun! I know a few months back they had me on meds for a sinus infection and told me to use preseed since the meds could dry up the CM. Hope they figure out something for you.

I would call your doctor and explain your concerns. While I was BF DS, I had a sinus infection, it was killing me, but my doctor wouldn't give anything because I was still BF and wanted to continue.

Yikes, that sounds scary. Are there other options available to help with the infection? Let us know what you decide. What a crappy position to be in right now! ~hugs~ I hope you feel better.

Is it just treating the symptoms or the actual infection? I would think if it were an infection, antibiotics would work. If it's just treating the symptoms, there are safe things you can take/do. Robitussin will make things thinner and may clear any stuffiness you have. Great for CM too. I would also try steam. When I get sinus headaches, I sit in the bathroom with the shower on and just breath in the steam. It helps clear stuff out too.
I hope you feel better soon. I hate being sick, especially sinus stuff.
