When I called to schedule my ultrasound I got all sorts of crap! I am asking for ONE six week ultrasound! I'm not asking for an ultrasound now, or for one every week, just one measly ultrasound! After 10 miscarriages, you would think I would be taken seriously! I had to go to urgent care to get a beta drawn! Everyone is telling me that I can't have an ultrasound until I am 17 weeks!!!!! I am so pissed off with the healthcare industry right now! I finally got one scheduled for 24-8 (I'll be 6w2d, based on ovulation) but not without quite a bit of arguing!

Am I being unreasonable for wanting betas and one early ultrasound? I tend to miscarry before 4 weeks, so making this far is amazing to me. Maybe they assume that I won't make it to the end of the month so they don't won't to bother....

No, you're not unreasonable at all! I totally understand.
I had similar issues, I only managed to get ONE beta test out of my doctor, who said it was normal for the DPO and then I was on my own.
And to get my ultrasound I totally abused the fact that I'm supposedly 8 weeks. (more like 6w4d when I had it, measuring at 5 )

Glad you got it though.
And frankly, after 10 losses they should be calling YOU to remind you to schedule!

It stinks how the medical care you can get in early pg is totally doctor-dependent. Some doctors will give you bw and u/s to ease your mind, some won't. Can you look for a more compassionate doctor to follow you for the rest of your pg?

That is frustrating and Im sorry you are having to go thru all this. Is there any way you can change doctors?? Even after my one mc my OB told me as soon as I get a BFP to call the office for Betas, progesterone and they will see me earlier than usual for u/s which they typically start at 9 weeks. I dont understand what is wrong with your dr's office but I wish you the best hun!

I would also consider finding another doctor. This one may have the medical knowledge but the bedside manner leaves much to be desired. You would think after 10 miscarriages they would be doing just about anything to put your mind at ease. We also understand that there is nothing doctors can do to prevent a miscarriage in the beginning but peace of mind is priceless when you have experienced a loss. I hope you get lots of good news at your appointment!

I think it's insane that after 10 m/c they are not taking you more seriously. You deserve to have peace of mind, and you're not being unreasonable AT ALL!! I'm glad you were able to get an u/s scheduled!

With my first pregnancy, I was immediately high risk. I didn't get a beta, ultrasound, anything until I told them I fell down the stairs. Then I had to go to the ER for an ultrasound.
The OB that I'll be seeing if I get pg again has his own ultrasound equipment. That's part of the reason I chose to see him. It's a private practice and he paid for the machine himself but most regular OB's just don't have the equipment and it's "standard procedure" to only send you out for one once.
What I would do, is start calling around for a different doctor. You're still early and it won't make a difference right now if you change. Just ask if they do early ultrasounds and explain your circumstances. Hopefully, someone will be more willing to help out. Good Luck
