Bleeding for 2 weeks after miscarriage? update

Anyone bleed for around 2 weeks after they had a natural miscarriage?

I'm so worried, i'm day 12 and i'm still bleeding on and off...Just when I think it's stopped, it starts up again....I talked to the nurse on friday and she said if by tuesday (2 weeks since my miscarriage) i'm still bleeding, I need to call in and have an ultrasound done....I'm so worried that the same thing is happening as last time and my uterus just isn't contracting down and i'm going to have to have a D&C for it again...This morning the bleeding is almost gone, but that's been happening all along....After my miscarriage and D&C in april the same thing happened for 3 weeks before I started gushing red blood...So any way, I was just looking for some hope that maybe it's normal to bleed this long after a miscarriage? I don't want to have anything else done...I'm sick of it and i'm ready to move on.

Well after dinner I started gushing bright red blood....I haven't had bright red blood in about a week...I'm also getting shooting pains in my lower abdomen and I passed a clot, about the size of a large grape, maybe a little bigger....I think I pretty much know something is wrong...I'm going to call my doctor's office tomorrow...If already decided that if I have a D&C I will be going to the hospital instead of the surgery center (My first D&C was 1200$ and my hospital bill for my 2nd, plus a stay and other things was only 800)...I don't want to have to do either, but I pretty much know that this isn't normal

With this last m/c the "flow" of bleeding changed day to day. One day it'd be spotting, the next it would be full force heavy bleeding. I would think it was done and bam I was back to square one. I bled the same way PP also. So it might just be me.

I was bleeding for a total of about 2 weeks (including 3 days before the actual m/c). After my loss the bleeding did start to taper off each day. It's probably still a good idea to have an u/s done though just to make sure that all of the tissue has passed.

I bled for about 10 or 11 days I believe (almost 2 wks).

Oh, another thing I forgot to mention. My bleeding (AF) level and how much (or little) caffine I drink (the I drink, the more I bleed). I was off work for 3 days when I had my m/c and barely bleed. As soon as I went back to work, I was just gushing (or felt like it anyways). During AF, my bleeding is always less at night and more during the day.

I had a natural mc at 10 weeks, and I bled for 8 weeks after. My Dr said sometimes people can bleed for up to 3 months. I hope you won't bleed that long. Get the ultrasound to make sure all the tissue is gone, but don't stress about it too much.

You may have retained tissue....I would put a call in. Just in case. Megan didnt you have a lot of bleeding last time? I think I remember you telling us last time that the same thing happened....you will have to remind me. I would find out cause you have been through so much already and I hope this stops soon so that you can move on. I am sorry Megan....no one should have to go through what you have gone through this last year. I am sorry....

With your history, you need to get in too see a Doc ASAP. I would also mention to them the possible clotting disorder. You are all ready dangerously anemic and have been bleeding for two more weeks.

Yes I had bleeding issues last time....I bled on and off for 3 weeks after my D&C and then started gushing bright red blood for 12 days...I called my doctor's office and they told me it was my period...It got so bad that I finally went to the ER and found out that my blood count was really low, and I had to have a D&C along with 2 blood transfusions...They thought it was retained tissue, but it was something called subinvolution...My uterus pretty much didn't contract down in size...So over a month after my D&C my uterus was still 9 weeks in size, full of blood...I told the nurse on the phone that I don't want that to go on like it did, and almost die again, that's why she said call tuesday if it hasn't stopped. ugh it's just so frustrating.

oh and i'm not gushing bad right now, it was just once and It didn't fill a pad, so I think i'm good to wait till tomorrow...I now know the signs of a hemorrhage, and if I think i'm bleeding to much i'm going to go right to the ER...I don't think i'm going to wait till tuesday like they told me to.

please do call asap in the morning Megan, I'm rather concerned about this... I do have to say that I bled for 60 days and the intensity would vary, sometimes like you described and other times like a mild period.

I really hope you do not need a d&c, that your body is working hard to expel and clean inside... I'm sorry honey that you're going thru this. Please keep us posted on what happens when you call tomorrow!

it slowed way down last night after that gush and clot (Maybe the clot was left over tissue?)...This morning it's hardly there and brown (sorry for the TMI)...I'm giving it till tomorrow...Everything I read says 2 weeks and if your still bleeding call your doctor, so tomorrow it will be 2 weeks...Unless I start bleeding red blood again.

After my first loss and d & c, I bled for 8 weeks. The doc said it is kind of like giving birth and post pardum..some people bleed a few days and others 6 weeks. However, I think that they missed some of the tissue during the d & c. My bleeding stopped and started more times than I can count during those eight weeks and it ranged from spotting to heavy with cramping and passing clots. Right before it all stopped I got pretty bad cramps and the worst clots. I was going to call my doc about it he next day, but then it stopped. I think my body was expelling the remaining missed tissue.

My second d & c was completely different. I had no cramping after and the first 5-7 days I had only a tiny bit of spotting when I wipped. The second week I had something like a light period and then it all stopped.

I agree though that you should talk with your doc and see what he/she recommends. I hope you don't have to have another d & c.

so far today the bleeding isn't bad...I had a small bit of dark red this morning, but not even enough to get on my pad, just when I wiped...Since then it's just still brown....I hope hope hope hope that it stops..I don't want to call my doctor, I don't want to even pay for another ultrasound or another surgery....i'm sick of having bills and paying for pregnancy's that i didn't even get to keep...it's so frustrating.
