So, I had a miscarriage (D & C) on July 20th after being pregnant for 12 weeks (even though we knew the baby was gone at 8 weeks, my hormones continued to increase til the D & C). I JUST stopped bleeding about five days ago. Soooo, my poor hubby, had to wait all that time and last night I was finally confident that the bleeding was done and all was a "go."

I went to the doc on Friday to make sure everything was fine. And the hormone test was negative (no more pregnancy hormones present), uterus was back to normal size, bleeding was newly gone, and he said everything looked good. We are supposed to wait til my period came back before trying again (and we sorta talked about waiting til the beginning of the year, for emotional reasons).

So last night me and my hubby BD or DTD late (well, early this morning) and I decided when I woke up that just to make sure, I would take an ovulation test...since I have no idea when to expect my period back and sorta wanted to be "in the clear." And it was soooo positive. Now I am panicking because even though I know the chances are not super-great...what if I DO get pregnant and it is too soon for my body and I lose it again? Has anyone gotten pregnant immediately after a miscarriage and had success (aka: didn't lose the baby)? I feel like I totally screwed up, I really did not have signs of ovulation, but I don't generally have strong signs (why I use the predictors).

I have known a few women who have had a miscarriage and then turned around and gotten pregnant again immediately. There is a girl in the nov due date club...I forget her name. She posted here for a while after she miscarried, but turned around and got pg the very next cycle. She is still there and doing well....most of the women here on this board have told me in the past that if your body isnt ready for pregnancy you wont get pregnant...if its ok then it might. Good luck and I hope things turn out ok for you!

I got pregnant with DD right after I had a m/c (my due date with the m/c was 5/1 and hers was 6/7), and she's now a healthy, happy 2 year old. Usually they tell you to wait just so it's easier to date the pregnancy. I completely agree with the idea that if your body isn't ready for you to get pregnant you won't. I hope you get the results that you want!

Studies are showing now that there is no reason to wait before TTC after M/C unless you have a prior medical condition that warrants it. If your body isn't ready to get PG you won't.

Good luck!

I know they tell you to wait for dates purposes, but I know many women that has gotten pg after a m/c and had healthy beautiful babies.

Whew, okay. I am starting to calm down a bit now. I think I just freaked out because the miscarriage was so hard and I automatically envisioned a similar outcome (even though the miscarriage was chromosomal, not related to my uterus) and just couldn't get beyond the fear. Now I will just wait and see what the test says in a couple weeks.

Thank you so much ladies. It helps to hear what some of your docs have told you and that there are those who go on to have healthy pregnancies right after a miscarriage. I just needed a little reassurance that I didn't just make a HUGE mistake. I would LOVE, love, love a little surprise, the only reason we decided to wait was that I didn't think I could take the stress of TTC again right after the miscarriage. But if we got a little "bonus" baby, I would be thrilled. So, now....I wait. Lol.

If it makes you feel better two years ago in Nov I had a m/c and before I even had a normal cycle I got pregnant... I now have a beautiful daughter, the only problem was they had a hard time determining how far along I was since I never had a period after my M/C~

HUGS.. I am so sorry for your loss... I have had three losses.. With every loss.. my Dr would say... try again.. right away.. If your body is not ready.. you wont get pregnant. If you get pregnant before your period... You will get an early u/s to date the pregnancy.... And you have your Positive OPK so just put a little x or heart on your calendar.. and wait!! HUGS

Hi! I recently posted in this forum as well... I am currently pregnant but I am not sure how far along I am yet because I just had a mc and got pregnant before I even had a period. I am super nervous on if this one will stick so I know how you feel! Good luck to you and lots of sticky dust !! Maybe we will see each other in the April ddc?

I am in the same boat. I had a d & c on July 19th, one day before you. I stopped bleeding about 10 days ago. We started dtd again a week or so ago and we using pull out method. Then we thought...this is kind of silly to prevent when we really do want to get pregnant. Dh especially doesn't want to prevent, but I have more reservations about it just because of the fear of a third loss. Well Friday I decided to take an opk and it was positive. I thought it was a fluke or maybe left over hcg in my system. I took a htp to see and it was very negative, so that kind of answered my question that the opk was probably not a fluke. We dtd that right without pulling out or protection. I got positive opks the next day and one again early Sunday morning. We only dtd that one time and I am really nervous about the outcome. I want to be pregnant, but can't stand a third loss.

My doc said all the same things that the other girls are saying. He said your body won't get pregnant until it's ready and the only reason they tell you to wait one cycle is to have an easier time dating the pregnancy and to make sure it's not left over from the miscarriage. I keep thinking about these words and try and remain hopeful. My doc said he has seen several successful pregnancies right after a loss before even a missed period.
