Hi everyone, I'm Erin. I was part of the march DDC but we found out on August 12th that it was a blighted ovum. I'm still waiting to miscarry naturally (I have been spotting and having light cramps, but nothing major yet). I have another appointment on Thursday to see how things are going and if I need a D&C. (Any suggestions from ladies that have been in this situation before? This was my first pregnancy and I'm fairly young, only 19, and I've never had any kind of procedure or surgery so I'm kind of nervous)
This pregnancy was unplanned, as I was on birth control. My boyfriend and I have been together for quite sometime though, and live on our own and are doing well so we were both really excited. This loss really shook us up, but also made us realize we do want a child now, and are planning on trying as soon as we can. I'm going to be graduating from college in December, so we're probably going to just not try/not prevent until early december when we'll be actively TTC. (We'll both be ecstatic if we get pregnant right away, but if not, once I'm graduated I'll be a little more relaxed and can fully commit to TTC)
I hope it's okay that I'm posting here even though we're not TTC yet, I'm kind of stuck in this weird limbo waiting for all this to be done with...

I remember you from the March DDC...I'm sorry about your loss

Honestly, i've had a natural miscarriage and i've had a D&C...If you haven't miscarried, if it were me, i'd go with the D&C...It's really quick, you don't remember it, and you don't have a lot of pain after (just some cramps)...With my natural miscarriage, it was so painful, and emotionally hard...I had a D&C in April, and a 2nd in May and got pregnant right away after, so it is possible to TTC soon after a D&C....I hope you get some good news at the doctor though! GL!!!

Thank you Megan, I remember you as well. How is everything going? I'm very sorry to hear about your loss as well...
Thank you for the advice, I'm leaning more towards getting the D&C the more I think about it. I honestly just want this all done with asap.

Hi Erin, I'm so sorry for your loss. I also had a D&C after my loss, and it went pretty smoothly. It was also my first 'surgical' procedure, and it turned out to be nothing to be afraid of. It really is a personal decision on what you want to do- whatever you decide will be the right choice.

Welcome to the board- the ladies here are great, and plenty of them are waiting to TTC or NTNP, so I hope you feel at home here!

Hi Christine, I was from the March DDC also. I had a D&C and agree it was fairly easy. I actually had very little cramping and relatively little bleeding (compared to what I was expecting at least). I'm just learning this TTC thing, but luckily we have been given to "green light" to move forward from the ob/gyn! This is definitely a rough process, but I agree the ladies here are great.

Hi Erin and welcome to TTCAL,

I understand your feelings of wanting to have it over with, think when we're knowing that we're losing our babies just getting it all over with is what is something that really eats at us... we're already grieving, deeply devastated that the physical part of it that just seems to linger or drag on (spotting, bleeding, cramping) we just want it done with.

I personally have only had natural or medically induced with medications/chemo, so all I've known is going thru the process as my body handles it. It can be painful when the body is in the midst of the "mini labor" but then it eases us to intense menstrul cramps... I've also had an ectopic loss which was extremely painful, so my other 3 losses seem allot less painful than that one. My perinatologists, OB's all leaned towards natural process because of the fact we were TTC and it wouldn't hinder my fertility like a D&C/D&E would as they explained it to me. This coming from 2 different offices & Dr's... so sometimes I guess it's a personal choice and a decision to discuss with your doctor(s) because they know what's going on best and provide you with the right information reguarding your personal situation.

I hope we can all share a little and help with your questions

again welcome to ttcal!
