I've heard and know that dogs can *smell* cancer... but can cats smell, sense all or any of it? (illness, diseases, deep seeded heartache/emotions)
Just curious what y'all think or know...
my cat is freakishly obsessed with me, he "guards" me and lately if DH touches me he's right there "talking" to me very loudly and kind of trying to wedge himself between us. Also, my other cat who isn't as affectionate well she guards me as well always sitting at my feet looking at me. It's weird, granted I'm in pain allot from the fm however it's been increasing with these 2 furbabies... perhaps they sense my heartache ya kwim. Or something... hope it's a baby!
Did I mention how my cat stares or watches things around the room her head zipping around, there's nothing there but a blank wall! Maybe it's our angels dancing around us and she sees them <3

I think they can definitely sense more than we can. I would believe more that they're protective of you because they're responding to subtle changes in you. They would definitely notice a change in body chemistry, it would make you smell slightly different. They live in a world of pheremones, so it would mean something to them. Whatever the cause, they would tell if something is different. Especially if it made changes in your mood.
Has your pain increased lately?

I actually wondered that when I was pregnant... Before I got my BFP, I noticed that my cat was very loving and wanted to cuddle a lot. Whenever I laid on the bed, she wanted to get on my stomach and "knead" me. She actually seemed to do it less starting when the pregnancy was showing some issues, and seems to have slowly dropped off now, but maybe it's just my imagination.
I do have some internal guilt, maybe the kneading had an affect on my pregnancy? (I know, I know, the ob said it was likely a chromosomal issue) Either way, I think that I won't let her knead my belly next time I get a BFP.

Celena - I have 3 cats and they can sense things. If I am sad, the mean cat of the house is actually nice to me and sits near me. Corey left his cat at home when he moved away and she has been hanging out in his old room smelling his stuff looking for him. My cat is the affectionate one and has a personality just like me... She is a brat and super affectionate and loves to cuddle and needs lots of attention, lol.

I think it is all animals... I know I have two dogs... and since becoming pregnant.. My Girl (who really isn't a lover) Has to be up my butt... she kisses my arms, and snuggles.. My boy won't let be alone... Even when I go to the bathroom if I don't let him in.. and now my girl... they stand at the door and cries, once they are let in they both lay between me and the door, and if I am showering they lay infront of the shower door. DH can't even touch me or they start barking at him, or trying to get inbetween us.
You mentioned Cancer... our last dog Nala. We had all our family over for Thanksgiving. Nala was a sweet dog, but couldn't be bothered with people. People would come over, she would say hi... then go do her own thing. We my grandmother was diag with cancer... Nala was up her butt!! Wouldn't leave her alone. We didn't know at that time Nala had cancer too. We had to put her down a month later 4 days before Christmas.
My mom has a bird. And when she cries.. the bird flips out... until my mom stops..
So YES I believe animals that are close to us.. know us the best.. and they know when something is happening to us, or when something is "not" right.

Neither of my cats is cuddly, but each time I've been pg the least cuddly of the two is on my lap every night. When I was having my loss he followed me everywhere.

Awe Kimberly
Patty, Kary, Missy, Britt SevenWonkas... I think so too!
I was just wondering if anyone noticed or thought or knew that about the cats... my mother was always convinced they're a bit more connected to those other senses than any other animal. She must've experienced something
Each cat that we or I have ever owned seemed very connected emotionally...

I don't have any cats but my dogs can defiantly tell when things are different... when I'm upset/sick or anything they are always there and it's like then just know something is different before we do
