Hello everyone...this question may seem silly, but I'm trying to decide when the best time to take a pregnancy test is. I've had two preious miscarriages and my docs aren't positive as to why, but both times in the past I took the test and had a positive at around 12DPO, then immediately went in to see my doc. The first time I started to miscarry around 6 wks and they put me on progesterone pills in a last ditch effort to safe the pregancy. Then the second time around they put me on the progesterone as soon as they confirmed the pregnancy even though they thought things were fine.
So anyways...I think I might be pregnant again. I'm feeling kind of quesy and 'off' and my breast are bit sore. I believe that I am 10 DPO today. Is it better to test early and possibly get in to the doctor earlier, or is it better to wait until to see if I miss my period?? I have mixed feelings about this b/c I know a lot of women have chemical pregnancies and then have their period around the same time. Do I really want to think I'm pregnant early on? I also have mixed feelings about my doctor's intervention. If progesterone or some other intervention is really what I need t make a pregnancy stick, than I want to get started on it ASAP, however I'm just not convinced and a debating doing things on my own time and terms this time. If they think I might need progesterone, shouldn't I have already been on it before they gave me the go ahead to get pregnant??

Sorry if I sound crazy...I'm a bit high strung right now..I'm excited that I could be pregnant and this could be 'my time'..but I'm also scared out of my mind and not sure what to do. Both times in the past I was almost positive I was pregnant by around 9-10DPO and thats how I feel this month too.

First off... HUGS...

Second from many studies I have read.. and confirmed by my Dr. Progesterone "SHOULD" be started within 24 hours after ovulation to be effective. But it is one of those areas.. that some Dr feel.. a failed pregnancy will cause low progesterone, not low progesterone causing the m/c... Just depends on the Dr.

So when to test... It is up to you. While yes the earlier you test.. the chances are you will catch a chemical pregnancy. If you wait till after you are late.. and the line is light... again you may catch a chemical... But if the line is dark good sign.. but nothing is a sure bet...

So good luck!

Personally, if I were you I'd decide to wait for AF... but then probably I wouldn't be able to stand the suspense and I'd end up POAS anyway...

I am always on the side of earlier is better, but it is totally a personal preference. I think for me, the earlier I can get into the doctor and try to do everything I can for the pg, the better. But there is always that risk of catching a chemical pregnancy.

Whatever you decide,

I used to POAS as early as 6DPO and then every day, but after the early miscarriage, I decided I don't like the heartbreak of ever knowing I was pregnant and then losing it. So I wait until after AF now. Of course, as stated earlier, it's a personal preference. I don't think I could handle more chemical's so I choose not to test until AF. GL and KUP

thank you all so much for all of the input and warm wishes...I'm not sure how Im going to handle all of this nervousness and anticipation, but I've decided to 'try to wait' at least a day or two past AF time to test. That's the plan for now. I'm crossing my fingers an praying that I am pregnant and that this little one will STICK if am....
thank you all so much... =)
