Ladies! My very first appointment is tomorrow afternoon. They said the first appointment is sitting down and talking and I didnt have to bring anything with me. What questions did you ask at the first appointment? Anything you think important for me to know?
**** Update!
First let me say how very much I love you girls. Each and everyone of you who has posted about your journey through the medical system. I was confident and informed about everything we talked about. I can not thank you all enough for giving me the gift of knowledge!
First off the staff were amazing. I really felt good, like a person not a number. Excellent. They talked to us, we gave them our histories, they told us the initial plan, plus possibilities of projected plans, depending on what they learn and swabbed for bacteria. (Already!)
So because Im in Ontario, our health care covers one cycle, they call it the Investigative cycle. Im to call the office on CD1 and book an appointment for CD3 for blood work and ultrasound. Around CD 9-10 I have the HSG. Then blood work and another ultrasound around CD 11. since I ovulate early, Im not sure what day it will be but sometime after O I will go in for my progesterone check.
And of course since I didnt remember everything they said.... I THINK they will be scheduling the PCT (Post Coital Test) during that cycle as well.
Sooo The thing that really sticks out in my head is that he said "Lets see if we can make this happen a little quicker for you". He11 ya! I am ALL for that!
So we talked meds a little bit and I was wondering what your opinions would be. Clomis or Femara?
Any preferences? Pros~cons?

At my first appointment, we also just talked. It was a TON of information all at once, and I kind of got overwhelmed. I would just make sure to remember to ask what the overall plan will be (what medications, will you be monitored by u/s, how many cycles before moving on to a different approach, when do you start talking about IUI/IVF, do they have a price list).
I'm so excited for you- I hope it goes great

Thanks Nicole! Thats very good, I also want to make sure that medically everything is ok. I dont know what could have changed between Dec when we got preggo and now it seems impossible! Im also curious to know what our health system covers and whats going to be out of pocket ... And Im seriously terrified of any meds that will increase the number of eggs each cycle. And so on! lol Those are great questions to remember, Thanks again Nicole!

Great News Tobi!
Bring a notebook and a pen. You will be asked a ton of questions and they will give you so much information that it can be overwhelming while you are sitting there. Once the "interview" is over, ask the doctor to hold on a minute and look over your notes. I am sure there will be an extra question or 2 you want to ask that you will be glad you did!
If you walk out feeling like "This doctor cares about me and listens to me" STAY THERE! If you walk out feeling like "I am just a number and they just want my money" leave and find a new one quick!
What treatment do you want to see for yourself? Do you want to start with clomid or go to an IUI? Make sure you let the doctor know what YOU want!
I am happy for you!

I'm really glad you like the clinic so much Yay for a great appointment!
As for Clomid or Femara, to be honest I'm not really too clear on the differences. I think that my RE tries Clomid first and if you don't respond, he moves to Femara. From what I have heard Femara tends to have less side effects than Clomid, and I seem to remember it having less chance for multiple follicles to mature. BUT using it as a fertility med is an off label use, so some docs don't even use it. I hope some of the other ladies have some more definite info for you
I hope your test cycle goes really well, and that he is able to help you get your BFP quicker!

Thanks ladies, Im excited but at the same time, I feel a little defeated. Like Im not able to do this on my own. I dont like that feeling. But maybe its true. And really, I just really want to get that bfp, a sticky one this time, and if we do need help to do that, then thats what we do.

I know what you mean... I think I've spent half my time since seeing the RE excited about getting treatment, and the other half feeling down because I wish we didn't need to. But you will get your sticky BFP!
