So, I went to a chiropractor and had an evaluation yesterday. My posture sucks. But I knew that already. It was kind of scary almost to have him tell me exactly what was bad about it though. He was really concerned about the accident I was in when I was 11 and that I hadn't had any sort of care afterward, so I've just been living with pain for the past 15 years.

The practice likes to involve physical therapy to help a person's posture improve so that they can eventually not need to have regular care anymore. I really liked that idea.

Anyway, one of the most interesting things he told me was that he had personally seen a strong correlation between bad neck posture and thyroid disorders, especially in women. ((it sort of makes sense, since the spine is what connects the thyroid to the brain and the thyroid is in the neck))

I have another appointment tomorrow, to go over the xrays that they took. If I have no fractures or things like that, then I'll have my first adjustment too. I'm a bit worried, but I think that if I did have anything like that I'd be in more pain.

I don't think I realized until talking to him yesterday that it might be possible for me NOT to have something hurt all the time. He said he hates hearing people say that they just tune pain out (which I do, especially headaches).

So I'll be asking him tomorrow what he thinks about me getting pregnant soon. I'm a little bit worried he'll tell me I should wait. But I my spine will be like my teeth, I guess. It's only going to get worse, not better, so I should get it taken care of first.

*sigh*

Matt may get is wish.

Brittanie, I'm sorry that you're worried you may have to wait to TTC, but how awesome would it be if he could do something to help your chronic pain??? I will be keeping my fingers crossed that you get the best of both worlds: some pain relief and an ok to TTC

Brittanie - going to a chiropractor is a wonderful thing. You will not regret it! Just wait, some of your pain will disappear and you will wonder why you didn't go sooner.

Brittanie,

They can adjust you while pregnant. I went to a chiropractor when I was hurt at work many many many years ago. They use pillows and wedges for pregnant women. So don't worry about that at all, just be sure to tell them if you are.

I'm glad to hear that you're going to get the long awaited care you need! The chiropractor I went to for my fibromyalgia did the same kind of program as yours with the physical therapy. However, it wasn't helping me so I stopped going. It helps ALLOT of people especially with injuries. You'll be amazed at how well you feel after the first month.

Brittanie, not that I want to agree with Matt, but I think that you should take care of your yourself first, I hope that the pain disappears and mostly I hope this doesn't put TTC any longer.
