The tech found it almost right away, it's right in the middle of the uterus. Still small, measuring 5 weeks when I'm supposedly 5 wks 4 d, but there's a yolk sac and everything. It's a good shape too, nice and elliptical.

My prayers have been answered. All I wanted was for it not to be ectopic. Now I have hope for having children one day, whether this one works out or not. I am so relieved. I was all clenched up and restrained, my heart was pounding in my ears and I was just going "breathe breathe breath" and taking these fast deep breaths, until the tech told us she could see the sac in the right place, and then I just starting crying and felt like my whole body instantly relaxed. It's just a black blob on a sea of gray static but it means so much more to me...

My OBGYN was very excited for me and gave me a lot of leeway for when I want to come back in to look for the heartbeat. I said I'm fine with letting it go awhile, the last thing I want is to come back a day too early and not see the heartbeat well and get all freaked out. And I have to fly back home to California soon since my grandfather just passed away, he was 96 and lived a long and wonderful life. So I will not go back in for another u/s until I return from the funeral, probably in 3 weeks or so.

I am sorry about your grandpa but when they live that long it is more of a celebration of life. My great-grandma was 99 and her funeral was such a happy time - just how she wanted it to be.

Your note is awesome, I understand everything you wrote and felt like I was feeling it right along with you.

Congrats! I'm so glad everything is looking good. I'm sorry about your Grandpa. My Grandpa just turned 91. I just hope I live that long. I can't wait to hear your news when you get back.

I know this is a little O/T, but I want to tell you a little about my grandpa. My grandfather was a middle child of 9 growing up in a poor immigrant community in NYC. The family all lived in one room and shared one bed. As an adult, his job didn't pay a whole lot but he pulled himself up out of poverty into the middle class, he and my grandmother were extremely frugal and saved and saved. By the time he retired at 62 they had enough money to travel the world and live in frugal comfort in a long retirement. Until his last year, he was still hiking and going on outdoor trips, he loved the outdoors and was very physically active. He made art and had many beautiful possessions made by he and his friends, or collected from his world travels. He was also a wonderful gardener and always ate lots of vegetables from his own garden. Overall I think he had an amazing life and knew what was really important and what made him happy. His funeral will be a celebration of his long and well-lived life and I look forward to it.

I will be in and out of town and JM for a few weeks, but fear not ladies, I will be stalking the 2WW threads and lurking around... No news from me is good news! Good luck to every one of us and sticky womby baby dust!!!!!!!!!
