Hey ladies...
Anyone getting a flu shot this year? I have never gotten one before (atleast as an adult) but since i'm ttc, I figured I probably should. My work offers them for free so I guess I have nothing to lose....
Also, because I needed some positive vibes, I got a psychic reading from Cheri22...what she told me was kinda crazy. The child she describes me having sounds an awful lot like myself. Anyone else had a reading by her?

i'm not sure about the flu shot...I was thinking about that today...I usually get them for my kids...I had one while pregnant with my son 5 years ago and it hurt and was very painful for about a week after and I said i'd never do it again.
I have had a couple readings done by Cheri22, but honestly I can't remember what she told me lol

I got a flu shot last year before I ended up losing my bean, but I haven't really thought about it yet this year. It's probably a good idea.
I got a Cheri22 reading, but she was totally wrong... she predicted May and I didn't conceive or get a BFP that month and I've already passed that DDC... but I've heard her be right on some people.

I don't do flu shots, and neither does anyone in my family.. I read up on it, and it is nothing that my body needs, and it is just added stuff I don't want added to my body.. My personal opinion though..

I should get a flu shot, being diabetic and all, but I HATE getting them and probably won't unless my OB makes me. My kids don't get them either. Last year, before the swine flu vaccine was available, they got it, so I saw no point in giving them a shot for something they already had.
I haven't had any readings done. Too broke. I figure that's money I can spend on pregnancy tests instead

I usually get a flu shot since I'm a teacher and around so many germs. Also I tend to pick germs and sickness up easily, so I figure it can't hurt.
As for a Cheri reading, I had one done with my recent loss. She predicted that baby to be a boy. Obviously I had an early loss, so we never knew. I'd like to get another one for ttc. I've never tried that.

I will be getting the flu shot. My daughter has significant special needs and I need to stay healthy for her. She also gets one since her immune system would definitely have troubles fighting it. I was going to wait until I was out of the first trimester, but now I don't have to wait. I will probably be getting it this week.
Who is this person that does readings? How do you contact her?

I got it this year and have the past several years. For me I get it caws Im in a doctors office but with ttc I would also get it. Just an added precaution for bean or bean to be! You may experience some flu like symptoms from it and your arm may be a little sore but its not bad. You dont like needles then you can also do the FluMist.
I did a Cheri reading soon after my loss. She predicted a Boy and either conceive, find out, or give birth in July.

My chiropractor's office also does a natural health thing, and there's a seminar the 27th on the immune system and how to keep from being sick. He's really against flu shots and stuff. I figure I'll go to the seminar, see what he has to say, and decide from there.
And honestly? I don't have enough money to worry about things like that. I figure they're wrong as often as they're right, so what's the point? It sounds like fun though, so sometimes I wish I had the money to just burn it like that.

I got a flu shot last Thursday when I had a doctor's appt (just a regular check up). I work in the health care field and so I need one for sure.
I had a Cheri reading done earlier in the year (just the freebie) and she predicted that I would have a boy and my conceive month/give birth month would be May.... I ended up m/c at 11 weeks in May. Scary.
I emailed her again last month, understanding this is all in fun, and asked despite us being "on hold" possibly never to return to TTC does she see a child for us? Of course again I just wanted the freebie. She said yes, "they" say a boy and the conceive/give birth month is November. We'll see...........................

I haven't had a flu shot in over 8 years probably, but I am getting one next month. (Free through work!) Since the ob/gyn suggests it, I guess I am going to go ahead and do it! I always avoid it because I have a great immune system overall (knock on wood) and don't really get sick. I hope that I don't get sick from it, because we are going on vacation the next week!

Maybe your baby will be due in June but born a few weeks early

Thanks for everyone's opinion. I feel just like you, Golden Ticket.. I'm hesitant to get one because I have a pretty good immune system. Sometimes I get a little cold during the winter months, but I haven't been really sick in years. And, like you, I've heard the stories about people getting sick because of the flu shot...
Avasmom - there is a woman online (there are a couple actually) that do readings specializing in predicting when you will have a child. If you google "Cheri22" her website will come up and you can contact her thru that.
Of course I only did the reading for fun. She told me it would be a girl and I would conceive, find out, or the birth month would be December. I'm sure it was a waste of money...but it was fun too

I guess it's a myth that you get sick from the flu shot, but it's a strong one! I guess some side effects are a low-grade fever and achiness, which people can confuse with getting sick.
I got the tetanus shot last year, and experienced a low-grade fever, chills, and aches..... That was not fun. Hopefully it won't happen for the flu shot too!

I get a flu shot every year. 14 years ago (shortly after we were married) I caught the bad influenza for that year. I will never again go through that if I don't have to! If you decide to get the shot, there is one that is made specifically for pregnant women and small children and it has less of the preservative agent in it. You can ask for that one if you want to.

So, I am facebook friends with one of the girls I went to HS with. She is pregnant, and is due around my EDD (ugh). Anyway, it's kind of funny because she posted something today about the flu shot, and how she doesn't want to get it. It was funny to see the responses, espcially after reading this topic on JM. Some responses (including from moms!) said don't worry about it, they didn't do it, etc. Some said to only do it if you are due in flu season, and some encouraged her to GET IT!
