So I got a positive test yesterday.
I called my OB office today to confirm the pregnancy and the convo went something like this.
Me: Hi, I need to make and appt.
Them: How far along are you?
Me: about 4 weeks
Them: ok, we can see you in 2 weeks
Me: but I had a mc before this, can't I be seen earlier?
Them: how many mc's in a row did you have?
Me: just one
Them: then we need to wait until you're further along. Do you want us to make an appt?
Me: I'll have to call back
I don't know my dh's work schedule that far out yet. I'm thinking of calling my gp and asking if I can just get an hcg done. I know before the mc they wanted me to wait until 6 weeks to be seen but I thought I'd be seen sooner this time. How far along do you have to be to be seen?

Tell them about your past histories of preterm babies and that you must be seen right away! Dammit, these receptionists piss me off with that crap.
Sorry, grr tho ya know?! I would ask if there's any cancellations and tell them you want to be booked asap, don't take no for an answer Rebecca

I would def call and tell them you need your levels checked! If your progesterone is low they need to start you on supplements right away! Hugs! I HATE that!

I am in the 2 WW now after an IUI and I was told to call as soon as I get a positive test so I can go in and do the blood test and the dr said he would do an ultrasound just to check out the lining . After that I will go back about 2 weeks later to see a heartbeat and then because I have had a miscarriage I will get seen roughly every two weeks until I feel more secure .. I don't have to be seen that often but I want the blood draws and ultrasounds and I guess it is something they are willing to do to both make sure all is secure and to help the woman out as well .. I pray and hope I get a positive this time around but I know it will be scary as well, so I am glad that my dr's practice it liek that...

The only time I had HCG drawn was when I was pregnant with Ella, and I was spotting...other than that they didn't have me come in and get any done...I actually did see my doctor right away when I was like 4 weeks pregnant last time, but they didn't do anything really...I would just tell them that you want them to give you a blood test...I think i'm going to do the same thing when I get pregnant again....They can't really do much at this point, but most doctors I think will do as much as they can just to ease your mind....Sometimes talking to a nurse helps, rather than talking to who ever answers the phone....GL and I hope you can get some bloodwork done!!!

See if you can leave a message directly for the doctor, that way you can talk to him/her directly. They will DEFINITELY order bloods if you want them to. My doctor knows how nervous I am and told me that next time I'm pregnant they will do regular betas and progesterone checks on me (and I've only had one m/c as well). My office doesn't order betas unless you specifically ask for it or if you've had problems in the past.

Call them back and say that you want a blood test to confirm the pg and your progesterone levels, you don't need to see the doc for that. When I was pg with the m/c they wouldn't see me before 10 weeks, with ds they saw me at 6.5 weeks

So I called back and actually talked to the doctor. He isn't the same one I was seeing with my other kids since we moved. I really like him though. He called me on his lunch break. He looked up my labs from the ER and said when I had them done, everything looked good, just low hcg, that's why the ER Dr. told me I was just really early. He said I can have an hcg drawn but I found out I would have to pay for all of it (crappy Insurance). I'm just going to wait. At 6wks he said he'd do an u/s.
I'm just going to hang out here until then.

I've never been seen earlier than 7 weeks, but I've never miscarried either. I'll be praying for your bean and sanity until then!
And CONGRATS on the positive test!

I have only had one loss so it may be different for me. My doc said that once I get a positive test they will schedule me for an u/s for 6 weeks to see the hb. Other than that, there really isn't much they can do for me. If you are nervous I would definitely call and ask for the HCG levels to be drawn. It would be pointless for me since my loss was a blighted ovum.

Congratulations!
My OB practice doesn't see patients before 10 weeks or so (prenatal nurse appt at 9 weeks) and no ultrasounds until 12-13 weeks.
However, since I had a complication (SCH) and loss last time they are going to see me at 7 weeks(Nov 3rd) for an ultrasound to rule out another bleed and see how things are going. That to them is 'early', though it feels like forever to me.
Will be praying for you!!

I've only had one loss and my SIL and friend work at my ob's office, so it may be different for me. With my last pregnancy, I was at the office and getting blood work weekly. I don't know if that was more stressful or not....lol.
Congrats on the BFP!!
