When I went to the fertility clinic today they informed me that I have that bacterial infection that causes miscarriage. SO my dbf and I both have to be on antibiotics for the next 2 weeks. They said that they called me Oct 1st to let me know, but I never recieved a call. So last night the sister clinic called to ask for my pharmacy number, but didnt tell me why. Needless to say when they told me today, I was angry and teary. Seriously folks, we are trying to have a baby here and 'someone' doesnt follow up on a positive test that causes miscarriage?? You have to be ***'ing kidding me!!
So as icing on the cake, now Im feeling so horribly guilty and sad. So now we know what happened for us to lose our little bun. God this is wretched. I feel like Im right back where I started, without all the healing time between. I am SO angry right now. I took a lot of comfort in thinking that something was wrong with the 'conception' or genetics ... you know, something beyond our control. This is our fault.

Tobi, it is NOT your fault!! I don't care what it is that went wrong that was the 'cause' behind your miscarriage, it is not your fault. Don't ever let yourself start thinking like that honey. And how great is it that you can get treated and have that infection behind you?
As for the clinic, that is really irresponsible for them not to make sure they spoke to you about that test results and make sure that you were starting treatment. Stupid lazy doctor's offices!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry that everything caught you off guard today. Huge hugs

Oh honey. It's not your fault, you didn't purposefully give yourself the infection! I'm sorry that your doctor wasn't more vigilant about the call. I'm glad you know the cause though, and it's something that can be fixed.

I agree, THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT, and by no means think not even for a second that it is.
I'm about outraged about how irresponsible the clinic was, if they called and nevre left a message, they should of call back another day, until they got a hold of you. The doctor should of follow up.
The good news about all of this, is that in 2 weeks you will be infection free, it can be fix and I know it's hard but that's what you have to focus on.

Totally agree with the other ladies.. This is NOT your fault and dont start thinking that way. I would be p****d at my doctors office as well. But now you have a reason and this is something that can be treated. Your going to get your BFP before you know it!

NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!! In the blame game...this is THEIR fault. They were the ones who did not follow up on that call. They were the ones who knew the results and dropped the ball. You had no control over something you did not know existed. That completely and totally sucks that they did not do their jobs. BUT, the good news is that it is fixable and you might have your rainbow baby next month!! Just keeping looking toward that.

It makes me so angry, because even if they did leave a message, my answering machine says, "Hi we cant take your call right now. Leave us a message, we'll call you back" Nothing that identifies us at all. They could have left the message with a stranger! And obviously if they didnt get a call back, I didnt get their message, someone should have followed up a little sooner than 20 days later. This clinic has the absolute best success rates, across canada. Id expect them to be a little more professional!
And this morning, I asked the nurse when they will recieve my P4 results. She said at 1 today. Told me she would call me with the results, well, its past 3:30 now, so I called and the office is closed! Un-freaking- believable!!!

Ugh. I'm sorry, Tobi Hopefully you won't have to deal with them for long If they make me wait any longer to hear your test results, I am going to start calling them myself!
Seriously, though, honey, channel your anger to your doc's office and don't let any of it fall back on yourself. You don't deserve any blame.

It is NOT your fault. An infection is something that is totally out of your control.
I would be so P'd at the Doctors office. Tell them you want to know where to put an "official" complaint in.

I agree with the others. This is in NO WAY your fault!! You didn't know you had this infection, and you certainly didn't ask for it. It's an outrage that they've known for 20 days and haven't made more of an effort to get in touch with you.

I hope the antibiotics get rid of the infection and you get pregnant soon! I am sorry your doctors office let it slip through like that.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Like the others have said, I really don't think it was your fault. You didn't know about this prior to it happening.
Hang in there and sending lots of BFP vibes your way!

Tobi I'm sorry honey!!!
Can I ask what they told you that you have?
Was it ureaplasma?
DH and I were treated for that as well, we had to do the week or two weeks worth of antibiotics as well then tested negative afterwards. Qbout 90-95% of infections are cleared up the first round of antibiotics... My RE said that it's a possible cause of miscarriage but not always the case. Allot of times we have allot of these bateria's naturally occuring in our bodies, but when things get out of whack for whatever reason we get these rampet infections. So it's a possible cause... however if you happen to be pregnant now and are on the antibiotics don't stress it, it's important to get you both treated and if you get a bfp then contact the office immediately then go from there.

Celena-I think thats what it was called. She said it, then I asked again what it was called and for some reason it just wont stick in my head.
Yesterday when I got home from the appointment, I remembered you had been treated as well, so I spent almost an hour going back through old posts to find the one where you had posted about it! We are taking the same meds as you both did so i assume its gotta be the same thing.

Please don feel like it's your fault, if anyone is at fault it would be the ob/gyn for not doing a proper pap at you initial ob visit or even prior to then!!!! Ya know? I remember back in the day that was part o the first appt, not anymore it seems. We could all possibly avoid problems if they did better initial care.
Ya know it wasnt my perinatologist that found it nor my old ob with my 2 losses last summer.... Actually now that i think about it, it was the ER doc that had found some bacterial infections going on in me one he said was uti (he did say the ureaplasma/mycoplasma possibility) which he said the peri would have to check/treat me for (and they didnt) wasn't until the RE tested me again and treated me... It's all coming back!

Tobi, I am sorry about what happened with the communication breakdown at your doctor's office. I agree that sometimes messages are left at the wrong number! I got a voicemail once at work for someone else, telling her that her pap smear was abnormal and she needed to come back in. I have a direct line, but there is another department whose main number is one off of mine (I have a zero as my last number, they have an eight). So I get calls for that department all the time.
What's weird is that the people in that department have extension #'s, and I imagine this woman's gyno office had the extension in their computer. So not only did they not realize anything when they didn't have to punch in an extension, but they still left a message when they heard my FULL name on the voicemail! (and my name in no way sounds close to her name!) I didn't know who the person was, especially since they only mentioned her first name on the voicemail... but I looked up everyone in that other department department and called her. I felt bad when I left her a message, letting her know to call her gynecologist.... I mean, really, who wants a stranger to know their pap smear was abnormal??
