Hello Ladies!

My name is Stacey. I will tell you a little bit about myself. Me and my husband was artificial inseminated to get pregrant since we have tired over a year to get pregrant and couldn't on our own. I had m/c the end of July. I had a D&C the beginning of August. My surgery was a difficult surgery because of my titled uterus. I also had a lot of complications from the D&C. I ended up in the hospital from a infection from the surgery. I didn't bleed any right after the surgery. I did start to bleed week after the surgery. I bleed the rest of August then. I had my first period after the D&C on September 23rd. I haven't had period since then. I was wondering if it was normal to have irregular periods after you have a m/c. When my period was due for this month I was having real bad cramps and signs af was doing to show. Af still hasn't showed up. Since the m/c I am scared to test to see if I am pg. I was just wondering if it is normal to be irregular or should I just take the jump and test to see if I am pg? I have been having some of the same symptoms I had when I was pg. I am just scared of testing since we had to be artificial inseminated last time.

Thank you ladies for listening.

I would test. I have had several D&C's and I have always gotten back on track right afterwards. It took about 6 weeks to get AF but once she came I was regular. Good luck!

I know that many of the ladies in here have had AF be off for several months after a miscarriage. Some of us even have longer cycles, ovulate at a different time, or have irregular cycles for a LONG time after (I hesitate to say permenantly, since we know things change constantly). I ovulate later now, after my miscarriage in July. It can be hard, but I do suggest one test to see if you are pregnant. If it is negative, you can assume that your cycles are thrown off and you might have a few more months of irregularity before seeing a pattern after the miscarriage. If it is positive, all the better.

But yeah, I had a really hard time with my D & C too. I also have a tilted uterus, but had the opposite...I bled so much they contemplated a transfusion. I think that after that, it can take even longer to get back to "normal." I hope you hang out here with us. This room is a lifesaver

I'm sorry for your loss and your complications after your D&C

A lot of ladies (myself included) take a long time for their cycles to get back to 'normal' after a loss. Have you tested at all or had your HCG levels followed to make sure that they went back to negative after your D&C? I would probably test just to find out where I was at. If you get a positive and you're not sure if you went back to negative, just remember that it could be a new pregnancy or hormone left from your loss. And either way, it never hurts to give your doctor a call and see what they think if you are worried.

I'm so sorry about your loss sweetie :dothugs:

Have you had any issues with cysts on your ovaries or anything like that? Irregular periods before the IVF?

It's possible there's still hcg in your system, but if you've had a reall af post D&C I'd say not since all of it has had to leave your system before an af arrives. So I'd test and give yourself that peace of mind, it's possible you are! If not then take the steps to find out why you're late with your ob/gyn or re.

i say test. My cycles got right back on track after my MC"s but I have never needed to have a D&C, so i can't give you advice on that. If you got your P after the D&C then i would think if you got a bfp now, it would be the real thing. Good luck.

Thank you laides for listening and helping me out. The doctor that did my surgery did follow my HCG levels back to 0. The HCG levels were at 0 the middle of September. I went to Wal Mart today and got a test. I think I am going to wait in the morning to test though. I go back to my OB the beginning of November so I will tell him what has been happening. I already scheduled the appointment to get us started again on IVF.

I hope you won't need the IVF again. It has been known to happen. It's also normal to have irregular cycles after a loss. Let us know what the test says in the morning. Good Luck

Morning Ladies,

I chickened out on testing. I am going to wait couple more days. I have been having a lot of cramping like AF is going to show.

I am so sorry for you loss. I want to add another possible scenario - a possible adhesion or scar tissue covering the cervix.

I had a D&C on 9/2/09 for a missed m/c. My cycle went right back on track and my charting showed I ovulated and I would cramp and have a temp drop just like AF was showing, but no AF. Oct., Nov. and Dec. were all like this and each month got progressively worse. It was a lot of pain, pressure, especially when sitting or going to the bathroom and cramping. I was also considerably more bloated than normal and the pain would shoot up into my shoulder. In Jan. my OB performed a hysteroscopy and found the one adhesion and removed it. It is a definite possibility since you had complications and an infection from the D&C. The adhesion did not show up on the sonograms that were performed after the D&C.

If it is an adhesion, it is fixable. We started trying with my cycle end of Feb. and got pregnant the second cycle at the end of March.

I hope you feel better soon and feel free to ask any questions.

Kat.
