My lmp was 9/6. I got a bfp on 10/12. I started spotting 10/15. Went to the doc on 10/18. My cervix was closed. The u/S showed a ver irregular sac still being formed. She was unable to measure because of the shape. My hcg was 131 and progesterone was 7.something. Bot numbers good inher eyes since lower = what we saw on the ultrasound and she wanted to see anything above 5 for the other. She said to come back in a week. So my appt was 10/26. Ultrasound showed a sac measuring 4.5 weeks in my uterus. Bleeding/blood near my right ovary still (why I've been spotting). However when i talked to the doc she was concerned about a possible ectopic pregnancy and we are seeing a false sac in my uterus. My hcg number was 182 or 181 and progesterone dropped to 3 something. So the doc is even more worried about me. U stopping spotting yesterday but started getting cramps similar to period ones. But when they came it was more isolated in one spot. I called the doc line and they said since it isn't severe and comes and goes just take it easy and sleep. If it gets worse call again hut I need to been seen today at the Ob again. I'm so frustrated. I was so upset yesterday I ended up having to leave work now I'm going to have to leave again today. This is crazy and frustrating.
I'm trying to make sense of the numbers and everything. I just can't. Has anyone ever gone through anything similar?

It does sound like an early ectopic, it best to get it taken care of now instead of waiting... I was about 9wks when I lost mine and I lost my tube as well. That's kinda late to catch it tho. So I highly suggest staying on them, go to your appointment today. Your numbers should be higher than that at this point so something isn't forming right. If the bleeding is near your ovary it's possible the ectopic is there and if they wait too long (not to scare you) but you could lose your ovary and you don't want that!!

I don't have any advice about the possibility of ectopic pg, but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you're going through this Your HCG numbers do indicate that something is wrong, though, they should be rising much faster. I hope your doctor is able to figure out whether you have an ectopic and get you the right treatment.

Hi hun... I've been following your story in the DDC of course, but I thought I'd reply to this here...
The hcg really does not look good for a 1 week rise, though by itself you can't read too much into that. I would be vigilant about a possible ectopic but it sounds like your doc is on it. However I'm surprised that the doc line was so cavalier when you called. Your pain may not be constant or severe (comparable to period cramps or constipation pain) but if you start to have diarrhea or vomiting, or feel weird shoulder or side pains when you lie flat on your back or side, go to the ER. These are signs of internal bleeding. And I had a NURSE not recognize these signs and talk me out of going to the ER... so don't trust the doc line too much!!!!
This totally sucks and I wish I could fix it for you... all I can do is tell you what I learned from my ectopic, and hope that you won't have the same thing happen to you... PM me anytime...
p.s. you might want to add "pg & possible loss mentioned" to your post title when posting in TTCAL...

I agree with Celena... Go to your doctor today and really get some answers. Your numbers are way off but what concerns me more is the possibility of an ectopic which can be dangerous. I am shocked that your doctor seems so relaxed about all of this...
((Hugs)) I am sorry

I don't know much about ectopics but your numbers do sound like something is wrong. make them stay on top of it.

Talked to the doc today and just said take some motrin and call if it doesn't help or bleeding increases. They are counting me out at work tomorrow just in case. They really are not certain about an ectopic and can't tell me whythey think so. But I agree something Isn't right
I'll edit the title totally forgot I usually do.

They told you take Motrin???? That shocks me on 2 levels. I may have wrong info, but I thought: 1) ibuprofen (active ingredient in Motrin) can cause miscarriage and pg women should NOT take it, and 2) ibuprofen thins out your blood, if you are having an internal bleed it will make it worse. When I had my ectopic, I told them how I really wanted to take a bunch of ibuprofen for the pain, and they told me had I done so, I may have bled to death.
Tylenol is safe... if I were you I would take Tylenol... I know it doesn't relieve the pain as well, but it is much safer... I am very worried about you hun, please keep us posted... :hugs:

It did surprise me at first, but when I had my last m/c I did a bunch of research on NSAID's during pregnancy and m/c stats. While there is evidence to suggest a higher rate of m/c, if it is needed so be it, once in awhile is better then taking it routinely. When I had my last m/c I think that played a large role because I was taking a NSAID that was actually worse then just motrin (not just the no evidence, but do not take while pg) from conception until I got a BFP (stopped once I got the BFP, would have stopped sooner had I known) because of a wrist injury. Anyways...yeah. I'm fine w/ that if i that's what the doc says. However, I took 200 mg instead of 800 mg as suggested!! However it did squat to help with cramping/pain. So again, I"m going to be calling the nurse line since I wasn't able to call them back this afternoon during business hours.
I am very tempted to just show up in the darned ER right now. I'm so pissed that they can't even tell me why they think this could be an ectopic pregnancy! And why the heck did the doctor make such a big deal if when I call b/c I am having pains she says take motrin and call me if it gets worse. The problem though IMO, is this office is just poorly run. I mean the practice is great and their other llocation is exceptional. However, the location I am at is brand new and still establishing themselves (Still the same practice). I get the run around the front desk transfers me to triage and wont just connect me to the doctor's voice mail or anything. Next time I"m just going to demand to speak to either the office manager or the doctor or take my business elsewhere because I'm over it. I'm really not understanding how they can't tell if its ectopic or not. My mom also is not understanding and she worked in the field for 15 some odd years!
Thanks for thinking about me It means a lot! I just wish right now that we had some answers. I hate waiting in limbo. I don't do it well.

Of course we care about you silly!!
You are right, I'm sure that 200mg is no big deal. But the disorganization of your doc office is very worrisome. DO NOT hesitate to go to the ER... If your cramps are very bad but you aren't bleeding much (not nearly as much as you would expect) I would seriously consider an ER visit. I could tell you the whole saga of my ectopic, but one huge part of it was that everyone around me didn't think it was a big deal, I didn't want to be paranoid and needy and I just suffered through the pain. I never took any pain meds, just a little Tylenol. I went 3 full days before I collapsed from blood loss. I was never even close filling up a pad, it was all internal. And like I said, a nurse talked me out of going to the ER - that was on the first night of the pain.
So I might now be overly paranoid for you, because of what I have gone through... But seriously, don't hesitate to go straight to ER. Listen to what your intuition tells you. HUGS!!!!!!!!

I would go to the ER and I am not one to run to the doctors.
Since your doctor can't rule out ectopic and there is a possibility it could be, I would go. Plus you are bleeding internally and they don't see that as an issue?
I am so very, very sorry for your loss and I am sure your head is spinning but you need to get proper medical care for YOU right now. Keep us updated please.

Just a quick update:
Not good news
My cervix is closed still. My HCG stayed the same from Tuesday (still 180-ish). They did rule out a tubal pregnancy though. After the u/s (both tummy and transvaginal - took FOREVER) I started bleeding a bit more.
My OB ended up being on call in L&D today and was mad that nobody informed her that (A) I had called yesterday until 4pm and (B) nobody told her I was in the ER! She said she is going to be speaking to some people in the office. IN the mean time she perscribed me some pain medicine. I go back next week as scheduled and they'll do another u/s to make sure everything has passed. If it hasn't then schedule a D&C at my appt. For both our sakes we're hoping I miscarry naturally this weekend.
This royally stinks but at least its not a tubal pregnancy or something. Also the fact that I'm missing MORE work. I am very glad though that my OB did end up coming down to the ER. It was very, very comforting to know she was just as angry and upset that I was. She said she was really trying to avoid me coming to the ER and the nurses line is not supposed to tell patients to go to the ER unless they consult with a doctor first per the practice policies. AND the ER is supposed to notify the patients doctor and the nurse is supposed to give a message to the doctor that they have a patient in the ER. Nobody notified her and the only reason she knew was because the ER doc called her because he wasn't sure if he should admit me for a D&C today or if he should discharge me and wait a bit longer and see if my body m/c naturally.
So I guess we're back to square one. I was really, really hoping this was it. And we could be "graduates" but Oh well. I'm not sure what we're going to do about trying again. I don't know if I can handle another loss if we do try again.
