I just got the bill in the mail from my surgery. The surgery cost is 59K...yes fifty nine thousand dollars. Of which I am only responsible for 150...But man, I was only in the hospital for 2 days. It's ridiculous.
BTW, got af on monday. So, i'm right on schedule to start ttc after my next one in 4 weeks. Before the surgery, my cycle could go to 35 days, now I'm back to 28 days. Who knew fibroids could mess with you so much.

ya missy, it is overwhelming. I'm thankful that I live in Massachusetts and insurance companies have to cover infertility.

Yes, it's the law here. If you are over 35 and have been trying for 6 months with no results, they have to pay, if you are under 35 and it's been 1 yr, they have to pay. It's been comforting to know that with all that I needed to have done, I won't have to take out a second mortgage on the house just have a chance to be a mother.

I had a D&C Oct 6th and the Hospital bill just came and it was $14,000 for the whole 2 hours I was at the hospital. It is so crazy what they get away with (my cost was $3,100 after insurance).

I called and asked how much it would cost if I had a baby ... $18,000-$28,000 depending on VBirth or C section. This also counts nights stayed.

I'm in MA also. So glad you have insurance!

On a side note, are you sure that is a law? I have never looked into it, but I have a friend under 35 who has been trying for over a year. She's gone to fertility centers and had multiple tests and is a candidate to try IUI. She put it off though because of costs. If this is for sure a law, I will pass this on to her.

Hi,

Yes, I'm about smack in the middle of both Boston and Danvers. I'm talking to my friend on FB at the moment and she hasn't ever heard of them paying for everything. She said her insurance covers only half.

that's weird, i've only had to pay the copay like i was going to the DR's anyways. And I've never paid for the ultrasounds at all. The clomid and trigger shot were covered, just paid the co pay. I wonder if they don't have to cover all of it and it depends on your insurance. i'll ask my dr what the deal is.

Yeah, keep me posted if you don't mind. I saw my friend today and told her, but she never heard of it. She said her insurance covers half of the treatments, but only half, she's responsible for the rest.

I wonder if how much they cover depends on your insurance type? I'll ask my dr the next time I see her.
