That's what I got tested for last week...I don't know much about it...Is it more than one clotting disorder? Like Protein C, Protein S, Factor V Leiden etc? are they all related? I know that it's hereditary? Does that mean (If I come out positive) that someone in my family probably had it? (I ask because my dad's sister had many losses, some in the 2nd trimester, but she's no longer alive so I don't have many details)...My doctor did ask me if I had a history of loss in my family, and I said no because she's really the only one that I know of, and she wasn't a close relation...I also got to thinking about it...My grandparents had a 12 year gap with my aunt, then had my other aunt and my dad...Back then they didn't have birth control, so I almost wonder if my grandma had problems with pregnancy...I wish that I could get more info, and of course i'm sure they didn't test for things way back then...I also couldn't find any info on getting it all of a sudden...If I had the gene for something like this, why didn't I have problems in my other pregnancy's? If anyone has any info they'd like to share i'd really appreciate it! ...It's so hard finding info online that's actually understandable lol

Thrombophilia is the medical term for blood that forms clots. As you know, there are many different clotting disorders. It is not uncommon for women to have no problems with pregnancies with they are younger and have subsequent losses. Researchers are not sure why, but it may have to do with chemistry changes as you get older.

I think it is great that your doctor is still searching for answers for you. I hope you find out something soon!

Kat.

Megan, there are clotting disorders that are hereditary and clotting disorders that are more autoimmune. Even if you inherit a clotting disorder like Factor V Leiden, it doesn't mean that every pg will have a problem, it's just a higher risk. The clotting disorder that I have is the prothrombin/Factor II mutation- even though one side of my family must have had it, every woman on both sides of my family has had large families. It's hard to predict how it will work. I hope you get your results soon!
