Hi everyone,

Here's my story.

We're married 4 years and had our first child soon after. He's turning three tomorrow!

We found out that we were pregnant again in August of this year but by September 15, we had a missed miscarriage. I had a D&C on Sept 17th.

The doctor said to wait until Christmas to try again but we're emotionally ready and want to try now. I have had two regular cycles and I think I'm good physically now. We are no longer trying to prevent. Anyone have an experience getting pregnant after two cycles? Our doctor said that getting pregnant within 3 months of a miscarriage MIGHT result in another miscarriage. Are we putting ourselves at risk?

She was also worried about us healing emotionally. I'm really ready, I think! I will be nervous if we get pregnant again but I will hope for the best! I think I can handle it .

Thank in advance for all replies .

My DR told me after my D&E I did not even have to wait. He said that there is nothing saying that it increases your chances for another loss. Most Dr's tell you to at least wait 1 cycle so they can date the preganncy.
I think the Older Dr's seem to tell you to wait. My first OB told me to wait 6 months and she was an older DR, This new one said go ahead and start if I feel up to it.

Your story and mine are so close. DH & I have been married 4 years... my DD will be 3 this week & I got pregant this August but lost that baby. (I had a loss before DD though)

Your body will not get pregnant unless it ready. So I say if your feeling emotionally ready then go for it. I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope you get a sticky BFP soon!

I was told by my doctor (perinatologist) that I did not need to wait after the D&C. Just for my period to come back. Although he would like more time to watch my thyroid, but he wouldn't be upset if I showed back up pregnant. I agree I think it's older docs- or old school docs that tell you to wait.
He even told me that by the time my period cam back fro having DS, that I would be physically ready to get pregnant again. Most of the statistics about close pregnancies deal with a lot of people who do not get prenatal care, nor take care of themselves. So it skews the data.

Good luck!!!!!

I am so sorry for your loss My doctor told me to only wait one cycle after my D&C, so I think you will be okay waiting two cycles.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I just had a D&C about 3 weeks ago. I saw my doc last week for my follow-up. She told me that since my loss was uncomplicated, I didn't really need to wait to try again. I should only wait until after my first period post D&C to start trying again. She is a younger doc as well. Just a few years older than myself, if that helps.

I think you have your answer! Can't wait to start watching for a BFP (big, fat positive!) on a pregnancy test for you! I'm sorry your TTC journey has led you here, but everyone is very supportive. For what it is, it's as nice a place as you could ask for Looking forward to getting to know you!

Lindsey, how funny! It's so strange how similar our situation is .

I'm sorry for the reason that we're all here but I'm so happy to have your support in going forward! Maybe we'll have a BFP by Christmas!

Thanks everyone!
