Ok what is this soy you guys keep talking about?
Do you need a script for it or is it a vitiamin you can go buy?

It is soy Isofalvones. It is not prescription and you can buy it at Walmart or any vitamin shop. It costs around $6 per bottle. It acts like clomid only the side effects are not as harsh. You take it either cd 3-7 or cd 5-9 only, just like clomid. Hope that helps!

Thank you... If I do not get my BFP this month I might try it.
I am also going to BBT next month to see if I really do ovulate since I am getting weird OPK's.

It worked for me! I took it this month after our loss and we got pregnant! I took 200 mg on days 3 - 7. I don't know if the soy is the reason, as all 4 of our pregnancies have been 1st month trying, but after a loss, I figured it would take months to get back to normal and figured it wouldn't hurt to try the soy.

Thinking of getting some tonight! I was debating it because of my thyroid, BUT it is still hotly debated as being good/bad for it. Figured a month or too while TTC can't screw it up too much.
Hope Walgreens has it!

What have you heard about it being bad for your thyroid? I just ask because I don't have a thyroid, and I was thinking of taking it next cycle...Also, what says are best to take it? I know you only take it for 5 days a cycle, but i've seen different day combo's, also the mg, how do you know which mg to take?

I took it this cycle right after a chemical. They say soy is half of what clomid would be so if you would take 50mg of clomid, you'd need 100 of soy. I started out on that. If you take it days 1-5 it's supposed to help egg production, like making more than one. Days 5-9 are supposed to help mature the egg. That's why you see most people taking it days 3-7 because it's in between. I have borderline hyperthyroid and it didn't do anything. I don't think I was taking it long enough to really effect my thyroid at all.

I don't know anything about the Throid part, sorry. I hope someone can help with that.

The doseage is a personal choice. Everyone says take double the amount of the Clomid you were taking. I took 100mg of Clomid so I took 200mg of soy. Also the days are like clomid, the earlier in your cycle you take it the more follies and the later you take it the better quality follies. I took mine cd 3-7 because I have 24 day cycles so I thought earlier would be better.

I plan on trying it this cycle CD5-9 and see what happens. So is the bottle you buy at like Walmart or Walgreens actually called soy isoflavones or is the name brand something different?

It'll say Soy Isoflavones really big on the front of the bottle. It's a yellow bottle with a green lid if I remember right.

Well, you were right...there IS a menopause section!!! HAHA, I never noticed that before! Anyway, picked mine up today and will start tomorrow...now I was never on clomid so what should I take? And I've heard to take them at night, is that right? Planning on taking them CD 5-9, I normally have a 32 day cycle so we will see. I'm thinking I'll take 2 pills each day since they are 40mg each...would that be right?

PS So sorry to hijack your thread this this...

I'm so glad to hear about the difference between taking it for multiples vs taking it to help mature an egg. I wanted to try soy but everything I read said it increases your chances of multiples, and I don't want multiples. (Actually I'd LOVE multiples if I knew I could carry them to term, but since I had Drew at 37w1d, I doubt twins would stand a chance. Plus my aunt miscarried twins once and I don't want to do anything to increase the chances of complications, and since twin pregnancies are automatically considered high risk...) I might try 80-100mg next cycle on days 5-9 if I don't get my BFP in a week.

Jan. 2009: Came off years of BCP and started TTC
March 2010: BFP -- finally!
Oct. 22, 2010: Drew is born, but has to stay in the NICU because of cord complications resulting in oxygen deprivation and brain problems =(

June 14, 2011: Drew's baby brother or sister waved hi to us with a BFP!
June 25, 2011: Natural miscarriage... Can we please catch a break here?
Nov. 2011: 100mg Clomid followed by 2mg Estrogen, Ovidrel trigger, and 200mg progesterone suppositories 2x/day 14 days. BFN.
Dec. 2011: 2nd medicated cycle. BFN.
Jan. 2012: Took a month off to breathe...
Feb. 2012: Same regimen of Clomid and other meds, add IUI. 2 eggs and 8.5 million swimmers. BFN.
March 2012: 75 IU Follistim CD 3-11, follie scan CD 8 showed 6 follies likely to mature. Triggered, IUI on CD 14, 4 million swimmers. BFN.
April 2012: 75 IU Follistim CD 3-10. Scan showed 2 mature follies, 2 almost certain to mature, and two not likely but possible. (All 6 evenly and perfectly spaced out between the left and the right.) Triggered, IUI CD 13 with 5 million swimmers. BFN.
May 2012: 75 IU Follistim starting CD 3. Waiting to O. Timed intercourse. Likely 5 follies to mature.

I took the plunge and started last night- CD3. Going to go through Cycle day 5 I think.

On they thyroid there is research out there on both sides of the issue that soy can mess up the thyroid glads production on both the T4 and T3 side.
I finally decided it's not like I'm planning on taking it every day!
Oh and I went with 160 mg, since I have taken 100 mg of clomid in the past but also didn't want to over due it either.

I've read that many women start at 80 mg. I went straight to 200 though. I've read of women taking anything between those 2 doses.

I took them right before bed. I read that would help with the side effects and i didn't have any, even though I took the max dose, so I'm assuming taking them at night helped with that

I read that you're supposed to take them for 5 days right? So wouldn't you want to do CD 3 - 7? Those are the days I did anyway.
