I have just been using a timex digi thermometer. It beeps after 3-5 seconds. I'm wondering if this isn't long enough to get a true body temp reading?
I'm just so confused over this cycle and I'm worried about my temps being all over the place. I have what looks like the letter m on my chart because they are so up and down. The ewcm went away mid day yesterday and none today. So now I'm just waiting to see my temp go up. My temps are usually really low before O'g and I'm just wondering if my body tried but didn't then tried again and it worked? is that even possible? Maybe one of the high temps is off. My bbt timing in the am could be more accurate but usually done with the hour.
My other question is, are my temps too low? They dip way below 97 once I'm up, is that normal? Ex, my temp at bbt time was 97.9 but about 15 mins later they were 97.2. It is cold here but I'm wondering if I have a thyroid issue. The thing with that though is that I don't really have any of the other symptoms and although my period is heavy, I am regular, usually a 32 day cycle.
I have an apt with my GP next Thursday to go over this but I value your opinions too since you may have experienced it yourself or just have some insight on it.
I'm just wondering if this is all down to my crappy thermometer? Hope to have my bbt one tomorrow or Saturday.
Thanks so much ladies, heart you all

Hi Pamela,
I have never tempted or charted so do not have any advice. Just wanted to give you a big hug and hope that you get the answers you are looking for!

Your temps aren't going to be as accurate unless you are using a thermometer made especially for Bbt. They can be all over the place though. When it does shift, you'll see it. It's like seeing the forest through the trees. Temps only confirm O though. You have to go by cm or use opks to predict when it will happen. You can also gear up to O and then not do It. That's where temping helps confirm It happened. I also have really low temps before O. My thyroid test was borderline. You can see my chart in my Sig in my profile. Hope that helps.

Thank you ladies!
Rebecca, you don't know how reassuring it is to see a chart with temps that look like mine. Thank you so much. I wonder if I do have it or if I would also be just borderline. I don't really have any symptoms, maybe some mild things but nothing to make me say I need to go to the GP because I don't feel right.
Also, did you turn your preggo siggy off for this reply? If so, please don't feel that you have to. Seeing your tickers give me hope and don't bother me. I'm just so happy for you!!!!! Other than you haven't been feeling well.
Thanks again!

Just wanted to ditto using an actual BBT instead of just a normal thermometer. You can find them all over the Internet as well as at chain stores (like Target) and pharmacies (like CVS).
I like mine to go to the 100th of a degree just because it feels more accurate that way. I've had two BBTs, both of which I hate =\ I got one from early-pregnancy-tests.com and it would shut off sometimes in the middle of taking my temp, so I'd have to crane my neck so I could watch it... That was almost two years ago though, so maybe they have a better brand now. *shrug* I also got one from CVS, but that one says it beeps when it's done, but it almost never beeps for me. It's the second one of the same brand (it's blue and purple, don't know the actual brand name) and both have done this to me. They'll work fine for a few days and then they stop beeping. With this one I just leave it in for two minutes, leave it in and watch it for another 15 seconds or so to see if the temp changes, and if it's not going up anymore, I assume it's done. I've never seen it continue to go up after two minutes, even if I leave it in for an entire minute longer.

It will take you a few cycles to really get the hang of reading your chart (hopefully you'll get a BFP before that though). My BBT was always rather low - not everyone is a perfect 98.6 degrees. Variation is normal. Good luck!

Yes, I turned my siggy off. I never know who it may upset.
I bought my bbt thermometer at Walmart. I put it in my mouth and go half asleep. It then beeps and wakes me back up. It also recalls the last temp In case you forget to write It down.

Actually, research shows that average body temp is actually in the 97s rather than in the 98s.
Pamela, I'm hypothyroid, and my temp ranges from the high 96s to the low 98s. here's my chart 2fba00 Ovulation Charts I've had Ms and Ws on my charts before too.
It couldn't hurt to have your thyroid checked if you're worried about it. My periods have ALWAYS been regular, even when it was way out of control. Actually my main symptoms when my levels are fatigue, depression, and hair loss.
Good luck honey!

This has been really reassuring. I had another high temp today so I'm thinking I ovulated 2 days ago. My temps seem ok when I first take it but as soon as I move or get out of bed it drops to the high 96's. I dont' know if that is normal. I can feel my temp is higher now and the ewcm is gone so does that mean I ovulated?
My new bbt didn't come today, bad weather. I would love to go down to Target or CVS to get one but sadly we don't have them here. I have to admit, I miss my American shopping and I miss all the crafting and fabric stores.
Thanks again for all the help, feeling a bit better. I do have an apt with my GP next thurs and then on the 13th, I see the professor and I may sneak some questions in. I'm hoping he'll talk to me about it. I would love to go there and be pregnant. I test that day but thinking about it, I may have to test the day before.
