Hi my name is Krystal. I am 28 years old married to DH for 5 years and we have 1 perfect DS who just turned 2 this Halloween. We have suffered a few losses. My first was in '05 and resulted in a D&C. It was considered a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks, the baby stopped growing at 5.5 weeks. We then conceived DS in 08 and he was a difficult pregnancy and I was actually told I miscarried him and switched to a high risk DR for a 2nd opinion and VIOLA he was ok. Then in August I had what they considered a chemical, followed by a BFP in early October. We just lost this baby because it was diagnosed as a blighted ovum at 11 weeks. I just had my D&C the 30th since my body was not recognizing the pregnancy as a BO and I developed infection. I have been given the OK to try again after a cycle because apparently tests show my miscarriages have nothing to do with each other. We are however waiting for the testing from our last loss.

My questions are: how do I know when I have had a normal cycle? I didn't bleed Tuesday or Wednesday but started today. . .

How does doing the temps work and has their been a high success rate with soy? I really wanted a sibling close in age to DS and it took 10 months to conceive chemical then BO I don't want to wait another 10 months. . . ?

Sorry if im too up front. I feel like I have been giving my medical history to everyone as of late.

Hi Krystal! I'm sorry for your losses. But welcome to the board.

If you D&C was the 30th of November- this would not be your regular cycle- but the bleeding from it. you next cycle should start anywhere from 4-6 weeks after a D&C. I had one on Oct 29 and my period came back on Monday- so just over 4 weeks. You should be having a follow up appt on your D&C to make sure you are healing so they usually don't want you pregnant again for that.

I just started soy this cycle- so not help there as far as success rates.
And I SUCK at temping- especially with a little one.

My follow up is Tuesday. We were told no intercourse for 2 weeks. I am following all of his other restrictions too. I was just confused by the no bleeding then bleeding with my last 1 I bled for 2 weeks straight from the procedure.

I didn't have a D&C so I don't know what to say about that. I did want to tell you how sorry I am for your losses. Please ask as many questions as you need to. That is what this board is for.

Temping works to confirm ovulation, but isn't good to use for trying to predict ovulation. You should use an Ovulation Predictor Kit (which is a lot like a home pregnancy test, just a strip you pee on) to help you know when to time intercourse. Sorry if you already know that, just trying to break it down as best I can.

Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - Fertility Charting has an AMAZING "course" on charting. It teaches you exactly how to chart properly, and their website keeps track of your info and analyzes it to figure out when you ovulated based on temps, body signs (like cervical mucus), OPKs, etc.

I haven't had a regular cycle yet since my son was born, but if my period shows up in nine days or so, my plan for next cycle is:

ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor
Two kinds of OPKs
Charting
FertilAid vitamin/herb blend
120mg Soy Isoflavones on cycle days 5-9

It's really not necessary to TRIPLE up on ovulation predictors, but I have it all available to me right now, so I'm just gonna go for it. Some people will use the cheap OPKs from online and then use a more expensive store brand to verify the positive cheap OPKs, because sometimes the cheapies can be a little hard to read. (Some people get blaring results though! It just depends on the person.)

I hope that helps you some! I'm sorry you landed here because it means you're having a difficult journey, but at the same time I'm glad you found us. It really is a great place to meet other kind, intelligent, and like-minded women.
