can I ask a question?

Sorry if this is TMI and I am so sorry it is so long. I wanted to ask you ladies a question if you dont mind. I am really confused right now. When you have a chemical pregnancy what happens? I have never had a chemical but I think that I am having one right now. I did have a miscarriage two years ago and what is happening to me now is somewhat similar. I ovulated on the 21st or 22nd of november and on November 29th I took a FRER because I was having pregnancy symptoms and It was negative so I put it to the side. Later that night I took another one and I thought I saw a second line but it was faint and I wasnt sure about it so I put it to the side and the next morning I got up and took another FRER from the same box of tests (i had bought a 3 pack) and it came out the same way as the one that I had taken the night before with a faint second line but again was not sure about it cause it was so faint so I got the one out that I had taken the night before and it DID have two lines and the faint line was a little easier to see since the test had dried. And after the test that I had taken that morning dried you could also see the second line better but it was much lighter then the one from the night before so I took a couple of $ tests and I was sure I had saw a line on them but they were also faint but after I looked at the $ ones again it may have just been indents. Anyway to try to make a long story short I had a lot of cramping and was very concerned so I went to the OB/gyn and they sent me for a blood test that came back negative. I still had pregnancy symptoms until just a couple of days ago and lastnight I started bleeding and I passed some clots that did not look right. Since then I have started a full flow AF that has clots and little pieces of strange looking stuff so I am not sure what is going on. Last cycle I had a 35 day cycle but this cycle it looks like I have had a 28 day cycle. So I guess my question is, DO you think I had a chemical? Is there any way for the DR to be able to tell if I have had a chemical? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

I'm not much help. I'm sure some of the other ladies here can help you more. In my case, I've had 2 chemicals. The first one I got a line, didn't have to squint or anything but the next day, when AF was due, she came full force. I never had my levels tested. My second chemical, I got a positive digi at 13dpo. I started spotting the day AF was due and the next day she was there again. I had a HCG level done that showed 47. I bled for a week (normal is 5 days for me).

Really the only way they confirm a chemical is by catching the HCG level before it returns to 0. You may just be having a weird cycle. I know I got a line on a frer and I wasn't pg and I don't like the $store tests. I got a pink evap on one and I still wasn't getting a line on them at 4wks when I was pg.

Thank you for your help. Maybe I am just having a wacky cycle. I guess I was just really devistated to get the two FRERs that Definately looked like BFP's only to get negative tests after that and Now AF is here. I wasn't expecting AF until the 12th because last cycle was 35 days but she showed up right at 28 days this time and she showed exactly 14 day from ovulation so I guess I had a 14 day LP. I am going to talk to DH this evening and see if he wants me to go on Birth control or what. IDK what to do.

Hugs! I have had several chemicals and honestly unless the doctors do the BT before your levels drops back down you might never know. I have had several chemicals and 2 of those were confirmed by the BT before they dropped back down to zero. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that. I am very sorry for your loss though.

I'm not a doctor but it doesn't sound like a molar pregnancy. Molar pregnancies tend to have really high HCG levels so you would have had a clear positive if you were. Also, I know that many get early positives but 8-9 is really early so if they were true positives, again, they would have got darker.

I had a few FRER's from after I lost my baby and was still getting faint positives for weeks. I tested with my last one on a Friday and it was still the same faint line, I got full AF the next day so I knew they were left overs or evaps. I've had evaps before on FRER's in the past too. I had seen my GP when I was getting the faint lines and them not getting darker and her first thought was etopic and got me in for a scan just to make sure all was ok.

I'm so sorry, I know all this is so frustrating and I hope you get your rainbow baby soon hun.

Well I have decided that I am glad that I dont know for sure if it was a Chemical or not. I am just going to say that it was bad PINK EVAPS on the FRER's because I had a hard enough time with my miscarriage 2 years ago and I dont want to go through that again.
