Sorry in advance if this is TMI

This past Monday was 4 weeks since my D&C. On Sunday, I starting spotting lightly, but it was still brown old blood. Then on Monday and Tues, it picked up a little bit, and was red, but it was still very light and changing back to brown. Today, I'm back to spotting and all brown again. All in all, 4 days of light/spotting, both old and new.

So, I was very much expecting a heavy period when AF finally showed up, and I would call this the opposite of what I expected. Did any of you who have had a D&C have a very light period after your procedure, or is this maybe not even it? I obviously want so badly for this to be my period, but I'm confused. Also, I have been temping and my temp did drop to a normal range for me when I would expect to see AF. And, I do not consider myself to have a heavy AF during any normal cycle for me.

Told you it was ! Thanks in advance for any advice.

I normally have pretty light periods, and I was expecting it to be heavier after my D&C, my it wasn't any different than normal. I always have spotting before AF, so my clues for CD1 of a real period are a temp drop, red blood, and cramps. I hope that it was AF

My first AF post D&C was very light, much lighter than my regular AF. Turns out my D&C was incomplete but I don't know if that has anything to do with the lightness of my AF.

Servilia, do you mind my asking how you found out that your D&C was incomplete? I think everything is ok, but I can't say for sure because I'm at the mercy of my body.

Thanks for all the answers. I feel more comfortable asking you ladies than I do anyone else.

I don't mind at all. Actually it's good you ask.
I thought everything was fine. I bled a little longer than I was supposed to after my D&C but at my follow up with my family doc he said it was ok as long as I didn't have a fever and didn't have a funky smell/discharge. I asked him if he's gonna do an exam on me and he said no, because of the lack of symptoms. So I went on my merry way thinking all was fine. My HCG was decreasing - a little slowly but going steadily down.
How I found out is I started seeing an RE who started testing me to see what was causing my multiple miscarriages (this was my second). One of the tests was a sonohysterogram, where they inject saline into your uterus and do a u/s. I had to go between CD6-10 so I waited until my first post D&C AF and went on the CD6. That's when the RE saw that the D&C was incomplete. There was tissue/a clot one inch across still in my uterus!
If I didn't have this u/s who knows how long it would have been in there (still there now actually since the misoprostol hasn't totally gotten rid of it) and it could cause infection, infertility, even death in some extreme cases if left it there. If you have the option I would demand an ultrasound. If God forbid this ever happens to me again, I will LIE to get a follow up u/s.. say I have pain or something.
I hope I didn't scare you - most of the time they do the D&C just fine. It's just my crappy luck that has this happening to me. Since then, in case you're curious, I've taken 3 doses of cytotec and still haven't passed everything so I will probably need another D&C.

My first AF was pretty normal, just shorter than usual. It was the second one that was extremely heavy.

Mine was a little lighter than normal so it may have been AF for you.

Judy - That is just horrible what you are going through... It is bad enough to have a loss and then this ongoing medical treatment?? Ugggggggg!

My first AF was very, very crampy but a lighter flow, same for 2nd cycle.

I think that either one can be normal (lighter or heavier). And it depends on your body as well. You having lighter periods normally...this could be entirely normal for you.

And I just have to say I am sorry to Judy. That totally sucks. It is good they caught it, but I can't believe what a horrible experience this must be for you. I hope you get it resolved soon

Thank you for sharing Judy. That is terrible what is happening to you and I'm so sorry for your loss and this continued struggle. I'm happy that it was eventually caught since you had no idea. I hope you are able to get a resolution with this soon and get your BFP very very quickly!

Thanks again for all the other responses. It does make me feel much better to know that some of you have experienced light periods after a D&C. When I searched it online, all I can find is the horrible stories that make my mind spin with worry. Sometimes, I despise the internet.
