Had another ultrasound on Friday. Sac is deformed and still no heartbeat. So they have diagnosed a miscarriage. I go tomorrow to discuss my option. Has anyone had the medical option of the pills? If so how long did you have to wait to try again. If I have to do the d and c I will but...I don't want to wait 3 months to try again.
Anyway thank you everybody for being so supportive. I'll be around for a while longer!

I AM SO SORRY
Why would you have to wait 3 months if you have a D&C? I had my D&C in October and 4 weeks later at my follow up my DR gave me the all clear to TTC right away if I wanted.

Amanda - I am so sorry to hear that.
I took the cytotec and didn't have any complications and everything happened as it should. I think I took one pill orally around noon and the next one round 5 or 6 pm...by 8:30 pm that same day everything had passed. I bled for a few more days after that.
Here is a site I found very helpful. It has a lot of womens experiences with it. Mine is on there somewhere too:
Hope and a Future: My Experience with a Cytotec (Misoprostol) Miscarriage
*hugs* if you have any questions or wanna talk to me about it you can message me on here or find me on facebook.
Also, with the pills I was able to TTC as soon as I felt up to it emotionally. They suggested waiting a month just to get my cycle back to normal and so they could date another pregnancy better but that was pretty much it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was told to wait 1 cycle after my D&C before trying to conceive again. My other two losses were natural miscarriages (took 2 weeks each after finding out about no HB). I have to say I personally preferred the natural miscarriages because I had difficulty with the D&C.

HUGS! I am so sorry Amanda. I have had D&C's and done it naturally and either way my doctor told me that unless your body is ready it won't get pregnant so once you are emotionally ready to try again then it should be fine.

I took cytotec vaginally when my m/c was confirmed. That first time I took it, I had really bad pains. So if you decide to try that route, make sure they prescribe good painkillers. Tylenol 3 wasn't helping at all. I thought the cytotec worked because I passed some stuff, including what I thought was the sac, but the sac was still there at the follow up and I ended up having a D&C - which they didn't do properly so I still had retained tissue. After the D&C I used 3 more rounds of cytotec but for some reason I didn't feel a thing and only spotted a bit (and it didn't work so probably will need another D&C).
I would say go for the pills, but get good painkillers! Good luck and I am really sorry about your loss (((HUGS)))

I have no experience with cytotec but did have a d&c with no complications and very minimal bleeding and pain.
I'm very sorry for your loss.

Thanks everybody. I had a d and c with my first loss before Wyatt. The dr. that did it told me 3 cycles. I had to have a repeat d and c because of retained tissue so technically we only waited 2 cycles after that...and my sweet little guy is here so it worked
I'm hoping to do the pills just so I can stay at home. But I'm concerned the dr. will say I can't because I've had 2 c-sections. I don't know...probably worrying about that for no reason. I wish I could do it naturally but I just want to be done with it. Which sounds awful, I know. I hate knowing that I'm carrying around a baby and feeling sick with no good outcome this time.
Melissa-I'll check out that site. And you are in the Sept. Playroom right? I hardly ever check in there anymore. I haven't even been back to tell them I've lost the baby.

If it were me I would do the pills again before I would have a d&c...just bc it is less invasive. I took the pills orally. I have heard that people have a worse time inserting them vaginally. I ditto what Judy said though about the pain killers. They gave me hydrocodones and it helped me a lot.
and yes I am in the Sept 08 PR too. and btw I've had a c-section as well and the Dr. didnt have a problem with me doing the pills at home. That was one reason I chose the pills over the d&c too. I didn't want to potentially scar my uterus more than it has been.l\\
I don't know much about d&c's though...I've just heard they can cause damage to the uterus??

Amanda I'm sorry
I would opt for the cytotec or methotrexate before having surgery, you can ttc sooner and help preserve your fertility

I opted for the Cytotec for personal reasons. I refused the D&C, unless it would have been absolutely necessary. My doctor told me to wait two months to start trying again. Each doctor has a different opinion though. I'm so sorry for your loss!

I am so sorry for your loss! Words can not express the sadness I feel when I see another person experience a loss! I really wish that no one had to experience it....
I had a similar experience. My baby died at 6 weeks, and finally at 10 weeks I had to have a D&C because I was starting to develop an infection. I personally preferred my D&C over my natural miscarriages. It was so final, I didn't have to wonder anymore, it was also quick. With my natural losses it took 10+ days for it to finally be over but after my D&C I didn't have ANY bleeding! I have never had cytotec or methotrexate (isn't that a chemo drug?) So I can't offer any input there...
After my D&C they told me to wait until I got 1 AF before trying, simply for dating purposes...

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so heartbreaking everytime I read another one of us has lost a baby.
I have had natural miscarriages and a D&C and I have to say the D&C was by far the best way for me. I know everyone has different experiences, but my miscarriages at home were messy, long and so hard. I spent weeks bleeding and cramping. My D&C went smoothly and I had almost no pain and bleeding. But, lots of women have different experiences with it all. Good luck to which ever you choose and know you are in our thoughts and prayers....

I agree with Dreamer10. My experiences were like hers. I would opt for a D&C any day of the week over a natural miscarriage but it is really up to you. Good luck and I am sorry for your loss.

Before you decide one way or another is $$$ a issue with your family?
AFTER insurance my D&C was $3100.00 ($14,000 before). That knowledge alone would have kept me from jumping right in and doing it. I would call and see what your DR will charge, call the hospital and see what they charge, plus you have anistiology.
Also since my D&C at the end of each of my cycles I keep getting infections and I belive its from the D&C.
After my other miscarriage I was able to get pregnant right away (well all 3 times I got pregnant right away) and now since I had the D&C I am going on cycle number 3 with no such luck.
So I really think the D&C messed me up more in the long run and if I would have waited it out I probably would have ended up pregnant faster.

I'm so so sorry Amanda!!!
It's s a tough decision to make about what route to take. I opted for the D&C because I had gone through a natural m/c at a few weeks earlier than this one and it was absolute hell on me.
My peri told us we didn't need to wait- just for AF to come back.
I hate that you are going through this again. Big Hugs Sweety!!!

Amanda I do have to add what I was told by the doctors... my perinatologist said the cytotec I wouldn't have to wait at all to start TTC. Altho it did take a couple doses (this after having methotrexate) and everything came out naturally per se with that. It was like a mini labor... if things don't progress on their own which in a natural loss it can take a tad bit longer than any other way, but in the long run if you're trying to avoid the surgery and want to be able to ttc sooner that would be your way to go.
I'm really sorry that this is happening to you honey
