I am still trying to figure out the etiquette for this board. I see people put into their title whether a pregnancy or loss is mentioned. I'm not sure what I am supposed to say in this case.

Anyway, I had a miscarriage last week. I was between 8-9 weeks. Emotionally, I am in fine spirits. Physically, I am still having some bleeding and cramps. I have an ultrasound today to make sure everything came out on its own. I was supposed to have a D&C on Monday, but I think everything came out on its own. I have no idea what to expect. I really hope it's all over and done with because I want my body to get back to normal. I also have to get my blood tested until hcg(hgc?) goes down to 0.

I suppose this is all very routine. This is my first (and hopefully only) miscarriage, so I am not sure what's normal for me. I've read that bleeding can continue for 1-2 weeks afterward, but should taper off. I'm also not sure why I am posting this . Maybe to find out how long it took your bodies to get back into the rhythm of having cycles again.

I was about 7 weeks when I had my first loss, and the bleeding/spotting was over within a week or so. Amazingly, my AF returned after 32 days (and my cycles are normally 30 days). The general rule of thumb is that AF will return once your hcg reaches zero, but the amount of time it takes for that to happen varies from person to person. Do you chart? Charting helped take some of the mystery away after my m/c - I knew when I O'ed, and I (sort of) knew when to expect my first AF.

Welcome to our board, and I hope your stay here is really really short.

I bled for 8 or 9 days I think with my natural MC. Then I finally got my AF about 33 days later. My cycles are now back to 28 days (or at least this last one was). I have been TTC since before I got my first AF back.

My first natural m/c I bled for just over 3 weeks- it was off and on at points during that time.

For all of my m/c's once AF showed my cycles went back to normal. I have also conceived once before AF came back- but that was a very early loss at 4 1/2 weeks.

Hope you u/s goes well and that everything is clear!

Thanks everyone! It's nice that boards like this exist. I don't really want to talk to anyone at work because it's all men and they would die from embarrassment if I started detailing everything.

My first loss was a natural miscarriage (7w 4d) and I had a good amout of bleeding for about a week. I think my period came back about 5 weeks later.
This last one I lost the baby at 9 weeks but had a D&C and it took 6 weeks after the D&C for A/F to come back.

so sorry for your loss

when i had my m/c at 8.5 weeks, the bleeding was 10 days beginning to end. (started counting with beginning spotting and stopped on last day of spotting).

i believe the whole process from spotting to next AF was 32 days.

With my first loss (natural), I bled for a week and a half (10 days) and that's not counting the spotting beforehand. AF came five weeks later and after that my cycles went back to normal.

Ok, so the ultrasound showed that pretty much everything is going but the endometrium (sp, I didn't feel like looking it up) is kind of thick. The OB that I have and have never met, wanted to schedule a D&C, which I don't want. Then the nurse said I could take medicine, so I said "ok".

The prescriptions got sent all over the place. I called back and spoke to the OB on call because the office was closed and he figured out the prescription nonsense, but then asked me why they prescribed it. When I told him it was because of the ultrasound, he said, "Oh, then I wouldn't bother taking it. Just wait it out, You're probably fine." He also said to stop talking to doctors because they seem to be procedure happy. I thought that was funny.

So, I now have to choose between medicine or no medicine. I am leaning towards no medicine because I like minimal invasion and my body seems to be doing a decent job on its own with little pain. I also think it's time for me to find a different doctor. I don't like the fact that mine immediately leaped to D&C over something minor and she hasn't even met me.

I don't have any information on a natural m/c. When I had my m/c in July I had to have a d&c done. I just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss.

i am so sorry for your loss. i had a natural m/c almost two weeks ago. once everything passed i bled for five days with the last two days being mostly spotting. i think it really just depends on your body. i am still waiting for af. but with my other pregnancies, the first two i didnt bf so af showed up and left by my 6 week check up and with my last baby i bf so i didnt get af until 6mnth pp. my doc and midwife said that my body tends to bounce back fast. never had a m/c before this one so im not sure if it differs from pp af wait time.

I don't remember how long it took for everything to come back after birth. That's a good point though, maybe they are related. It's been about a week and I am still having spotting, so I am just waiting for it to stop. Physically, I feel great. My cold is finally going away and so is my indigestion. My hcg is down to 830 from 9800 last week, so I still have a little ways to go.
