Lisa,

I was going to ask you when you were going to get blood test for your endocrinologist. I just saw in your last post that you were going to get your blood tested today for your endocrinologist. Can you please keep me posted on what he says. I am still trying to figure this out about my Thyroid levels.

With this m/c my ob doctor is saying my thyroid levels may have a lot to do with the m/c's and causing us to have a harder time to get pregnant. I called my regular doctor and had him check my thyroid levels since this past Monday the ER doctor and my ob doctor both said they were low. My regular doctor checks the levels more then my endocrinoloist does. My regular doctor is saying my levels are where they are supposed to be where everyone else is saying they are low. I am so suck right now. I don't know what to do or where to go from here. When I was in the ER I forgot what does of Synthroid I was on. I told them I was on 175 mcg and they wanted me to go down to 150mcg. Which I am on 200 mcg a day. My regular doctor told me not to change my dosage of Synthroid.

If you don't mind can you please tell me what your thyroid levels are. I want to compare them with my levels.

Thank you Lisa.

Is there anyway you can get a new endocrinologist? I never listen to my primary care about levels, since they are not the 'experts'. But, sounds like you need to have faith in your endo and you don't, so I'd suggest you seek out a new one. Your levels are crucial for getting pregnant and maintaining pregnancy.

I am currently taking 137 mcg daily. Typically I take 125 mcg, but with TTC he bumped me up. The baby will use up your thyroid hormone so you need to keep your levels higher than normal. Actually, it's the opposite... If your levels are high then you are hypo, if they are low you are hyper. My endo wants my levels to be mid line to low to keep me on the hyper side, to allow baby to use up some of my thyroid.

I am having my blood drawn today so he can tell me next week what adjustments to make with meds. Then I have an appt to actually see him on January 31st. I have my blood drawn the week before again to re-check levels. Once I am out of the first trimester, the blood draws/appts will slow down. The first trimester is crucial for keeping your levels in check.

I had Graves Disease. When diagnosed my levels were so low they were not registering on the test. I had the radioactive iodine done, which brought them to about 40. When taking Synthroid I believe they hover around the 1-4 area. I will definitely let you know what my results are when they come in.

Just wanted to pop in with what my doctor looks for. I have hypothyroidism, and my RE likes to see the TSH level between 0.5 and 2.0 for fertility/pregnancy. But I have read that during pregnancy a lot of doctors would rather see you toward the low end (0.4-1ish) than toward the high end of that range.

On 11/22 when I had my blood levels drawn for the endocrinologist my TSH was 0.02 Which was marked low. My endocrinologist also said my level was fine when I saw him the beginning of December. I told him we were trying and he didn't say anything about changing my meds.

Lisa my endocrinologist doesn't check my levels but once a year. That is why I don't have faith in him. When I told him that we were trying he didn't say a work about changing anything.

Thanks Nicole. I am working on getting another endocrinologist. We are switching insurance company in Jan so hopefully I can get in with a new doctor. I think 0.02 is to low. Which is why I am so tired all the time.

Jumping in. Definitely agree on getting anew RE. And please make sure they test your entire Thyroid- TSH Free T4's and Free T3's. The Free T4's and T'3's can really mess with fertility and pregnancy. A lot of doctors don't check them.
The first endo I went to I asked then to test them and they didn't. Found a new endo and she tested them and they were way. way off. I finally got my last results yesterday and everything is in the perfect zone again.

Good Luck- and be pushy!!

I am pretty sure .02 is an overactive thyroid, not under. The lower the test number, the more hyper you are. For me, when I had the Graves, mine was registering under zero.... lol I was super duper hyperthyroid.

Sam if you don't mind can you post what your what levels your TSH Free T4's and Free T3's. The Free T4's and T'3's are? I can post mine also if you want.

Lisa, I don't know about being hyperthyroid. I just know the OB and Er doctors said it was low.
