It *could* possibly be residual in your system (did you ever take a hpt to see if it went down to 0), but on the other hand it could just as likely be a new pregnancy. The only way to know for sure is to get serial betas and see if it is rising, so I'd call the doc as soon as possible. Good luck, and I hope this is a real bfp Christmas present for you!

I agree, it could go either way. I had hcg in my system for a long time after my D&C, so I agree, go in and get some betas done. I hope it is a new BFP for you!!

It could. It took me 8 weeks before I got a negative result on my bloodwork even though I'd had AF.

It could be either. If you never had it confirmed that you were at 0 it could be residual- or you could have conceived after the D&E. I know I ovulated before AF came back after my D&C.

I had to pop in....I'm just a lurker for now...will introduce soon
I had the same question in the PAL forum last week. I had a very faint +, took another one 2 days later....gone. 2 days after that....AF. This was almost 5 weeks post M/C. It was disheartening, I had tried so hard not to get any pregnancy hopes up, but it still hurt. But, equally, I was glad that AF showed so we could start TTC in earnest.
I hope the confusion goes away soon, I know what it's like to have your head all "over the place"...I was there not too long ago (AF is just going away now).

I'm with the other ladies, make a doc's appointment to find out for sure. Fingers crossed that this is it for you!

I agree. It could go either way. I would get a blood test to be sure what is going on with your numbers.

Like the others have said, you should have a blood test to be sure.

I agree with the other ladies. I would do a blood test. I had a partial molar pregnancy and it cause the hcg to stay in my system longer. I was induced when I m/c, had a d&c 2 months later for retained tissue, 3 methotrexate injections and 6 rounds of act-d chemo. I was finally negative after 6 months. I had several periods during that time too.
I would get more than one blood test. You want to make sure it increases appropriately if it is a new pregnancy. If it is hcg from you loss, you will want to make sure you reach negative. Also, if you are not negative and it is from your loss you may want to have them check for retained tissue. I am sorry you are having to deal with this and the not knowing. I had the same thing happen to me sort of. My dr. told me I was negative when I wasn't. Please keep us updated.
