My first miscarriage was natural I started bleeding before my first appointment 7w 4d. I did not have health insurance so all they did was beta's and the numbers came up with in the 4 week range and the next draw were even lower. Since it looked like my body was doing everything on its own they did no other testing or anything to save me money. DR just said to take a HPT in 2 weeks and if it is positive then I have a problem. She also told me to wait 6 months (she was a really old DR) and suggested I go on a really low dose BC for those 6 months... and I did. We wanted to move to a new house anyway so I was ok with waiting until we were settled in.
I stopped taking the BC in Febuary and March I got my BFP with DD.... gave birth Dec 2007.

This last miscarriage I went in for my 1st prenatal appointment at 9 weeks and they went to do a ultra sound and found no movenet, or heartbeat... there was no blood flow what so ever into the sac. I was also measuring off by about 5 or 6 days. So the next morning I had a D&E. 6 weeks later A/F came back and it was a little heavier than before and lasted a couple days longer. This one is really bad I am on day 4 and its not letting up at all lots of small clots and so dark its just all black looking (sorry if TMI).

My typical period before my first miscarriage, after it, and even after DD was always day 1 real heavy day 2 medium day 3 light day 4 pretty much gone sometimes do not even need a liner.

I am starting to wonder if something might be wrong from the D&E. I was thinking about taking a break for about 6 months if it does not happen for me this month so I can avoid a winter baby. I was thinking about calling in and seeing if they will give me a low dose BC for maybe 3 months. Do you think that might train my body into going back the way it used to be? Or should I just leave things be?
Anyone ever heard of a couple months of BC helping or being more hurtful?

Why wouldn't you want to have a winter baby?

Because my daughter was a winter baby and it sucked because everyone is always sick in the winter. When I took her to her well visits at the dr there were always sicks kids EVERYWHERE and parents just let the kids run wild and kids kept wanting to come up and touch the baby... while these kids are hacking up a lung and snot dripping from there nose. (yes I am a MEGA germaphobe)
DD birthday is December, then we have Christmas, then DH birthday is January. I was really hoping to spread the birthdays out a little.

Another reason I have is breastfeeding HURTS in the winter. And it was hard to nurse a newborn with all the extra clothing on.

Sept baby is almost a little later than I wanted but I want to give it one more month.
I would like a baby born April-August if I could choose.

My DD has a weakened immune system so I am a total germphobe now... I hate it!

My two periods after my D&C were bad. The second one was heavier and far more painful than the first. I bled for 7 days and was super heavy for four of the 7.

I don't have any experience with a D&E, but if it were me, I would just let things be. Maybe use condoms for a few months if you want to prevent? Personally, I wouldn't go on the pill bc I know it can take your body awhile to get back on track once you stop them (although I know that didn't happen for you the first time....)

My BFF got preggo right after coming off the pill, and her doctor actually told her that was a bad thing (higher rate of mc/problems). Luckily she had a healthy baby boy, but her doctor said she needs to wait at least 6 months after stopping the pill next time she wants to TTC. All drs have differing opinions on this though.....it's really up to you!

I'm not sure what to tell you, since I'm no medical professional, but I know if it were me I'd stay away from the pill. I hate the idea of a chemical preventing my body from a gift I was blessed to have. I was on it for a long time before getting married, and even in the beginning of our marriage, and I'll never do it again. I also know that if it were me, I'd never have the will power to wait to TTC just because of the time of year. That sounds so hard! I want a baby to hold, like, yesterday!

I was on normal birth control for 6 years and when I stopped it took me 2.5 years to get back on track. The stuff I am talking about is very low dose and does not effect you as bad as the normal stuff because its very very low hormones (so low my DR told me to still use spermiside or condoms with it because I have a risk of getting pregnant. Her reason for it was to get me back on a rythm faster and hoping when I was ready I would get pregnant faster. And it was true.
I had never heard this from anyone else before and that DR is now retired so I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this.
I NEVER want to go back on regular birth control again it messed me up so bad.

My thoughts were if maybe it might help me get pregnant faster in the long run.

But no one has really heard of this as an option so I think I am just going to keep trying as is and by next fall if I am not pregnant then I will talk to my DR about options. My husband does not want me to take any fertility drugs at all so I am just trying to get a plan in my head as for other things that may help.

Hearing that others had bad A/F a cycle or 2 after D&E makes me feel better. I never get cramps and no I have them and never had a flow this heavy and long. My husband said maybe my body needed this to clean out and them maybe next month I will get pregnant because of it.
