I'm finally going for my post m/c follow-up appointment today at 3pm. When I called to make the appointment (the day I got home from ER), the receptionist didn't seem to know what to do...her response was "uh..I guess in 6 weeks is okay". The OB said she wanted to follow-up, but didn't say when, so I went with it.

No one at the hospital (not the nurse, ER doc or the OB...mine happened to be on-call) mentioned anything about when we could start TTC again, so we just kinda decided and now I'm afraid that the OB will say we should wait, and DH will go with anything a Dr says (to me anyways).

I don't see any reason why she might say this, beyond that it might just be her practice to wait 3 months or whatever. I just finished AF, which was heavier, but normal besides that and I'm emotionally ready, so I can't see a reason, it's just (hopefully) an irrational fear.

Any advice?

Wish me luck!

Hugs! I am sorry for your loss. I hope your appointment goes well. My first OB told me to wait 3 cycles. My OB now told me that your body will not get pregnant unless it's ready. There is no medical reason to wait. Some say to wait until after your first AF for dating purposes but other than that is your emotionally ready then I don't see the problem with it.

My doctor said to wait one cycle and it was mainly for logistical reasons and not health reasons. I think it might also depend on how far along you were. I was about 9 weeks.

I was also 9 weeks, and I've just finished my first cycle...so I'm hoping all is okay.

My RE also said to wait one cycle, for 2 reasons. First, it is hard to date as right after a m/c you don't really know when CD1 actually is... and he said that that the chance of m/c is very high. For us, he wants us to wait until I have another period and then try. He also mentioned studies that showed waiting more than 3 months has no benefit.

When he started school he said they made you wait a year after a m/c to try again!!!
