I had a "missed abortion" December 2, 2010. Had my d&c that afternoon. My husband is wanting to try and conceive again right away, and I have some mixed feelings. I really want another child, my oldest and only is almost 12 now. But I am now also scared to have another loss if I get pregnant again.

We have both been told by a few different people that I am very fertile right now and for the next couple months, and this is one reason why my husband wants to try to conceive, as it took us 17 months to get pregnant this last time.

I am just wondering if anyone out there knows much at all about this information people has passed onto us, about my being more fertile right now.

They do say sometimes you are more fertile after a m/c. It is easier for sperm to travel because your cervix is open. I am very sorry for your loss. You might want to post this on the main TTCAL board as well Trying to Conceive after Loss - JustMommies Message Boards

I had a D&C april 2010 and i heard the same thing that i would be most fertile after but bf and i went back to having sex like usual and here its dec. almost jan and i cant seem to get pregnant. so it must vary between women, did you find out the reason why you miscarried? cause i asked my doc and he was not sure all he said is he couldnt fins any medical reason why and so i figure it was stress. but now im worried i cant conceive or maybe they messed me up down there during surgery, every month i get my hopes up that ill miss my period and i cry everytime it comes. now i have become upsest with ovulation timing and all that...

Well...I am not sure about being more fertile after a miscarriage, but I will say that I have seen a lot of women miscarry to go on and get pregnant right away. I myself am almost 5 weeks pregnant and I had a miscarriage in october....so here's for hoping. As far as being scared....I am sorry to say that those fears will be with you no matter when you try again. After losing a baby those fears are just with you. But don't let those fears stop you from trying again because you wouldn't want to delay a beautiful baby from coming to you. Good luck and try not to give up hope. We all here understand and can give lots of support....
