I started seeing an RE two weeks ago to try to get some answers regarding my two losses, and so far all of my blood tests (for clotting disorders and what-not) have come back negative. I did, however, get a letter from her on Christmas Eve telling me that my cervical swab tested positive for ureaplasma urealyticum. According to the letter, this is a small organism "which has been implicated, not only as possibly causing early miscarriages, but also in negatively affecting sperm mucus interaction, preventing normal fertilization of eggs." WTH!!! The letter stated several times that this is a fairly common finding and no cause for alarm. DH and I both have to take 2 weeks worth of antibiotics to clear up this bacteria. I have absolutely NO symptoms of anything being wrong!
Anyone have any experience with this? Does it cause damage to the reproductive tract, like scarring or anything like that? And has anyone had a successful pregnancy after being treated for this? I'm actually kind of glad they found something wrong with me, but nervous because there isn't a whole lot of info out there on this.
