I'm not TTC yet, but I figure that at some point, I will be. My clinic likes to do early ultrasounds so I figured that once I'm pregnant they wouldn't have a problem getting me in at 6 or 7 weeks to date the pregnancy, see the heartbeat, and give me peace of mind.

But I just found out that my new insurance sucks. They consider pretty much anything besides a standard prenatal office visit to be "non-routine". Which means they don't cover it under the typical maternity care coverage. This means I'll have to pay extra for every lab test, every ultrasound, even a rhogam shot is "non-routine". This means that I can't have hCG or ultrasounds just for piece of mind.

So once it is time to TTC (and hopefully get pregnant), how can I deal with the worry? How can I assure myself that everything is going okay with the pregnancy? Anyone else have crummy insurance? What do you do?

Well, after a certain point you can hear the heartbeat. I know they sell heartbeat monitors for personal use. Maybe that would help. I don't know how to ease any worry up to that point. Hopefully others have more advice.

I do not have any health insurance. We just save money and use care credit (a credit card just for medical bills) to pay our expenses.

My clinic doesn't try to find the heartbeat at appointments until 11 or 12 weeks. I lost my baby at 10 weeks, so I know that I'll be a huge ball of nerves until then.

I had mentioned the heartbeat monitors to my husband and he thought it would just make me more anxious to be trying to find the heartbeat on my own.

I'm not sure if there is anything that will keep me from worrying when I finally do get pg again . . . but if you figure something out, let me know!

I just wanted to say I know how you feel - my OB only does 10 week u/s so I will just have to wait and it will be sooo hard. I am not sure how I will manage. I know I have to stay positive and relax, but I also know I will not feel happy and truly positive until I pass the 10 week mark and know all is ok. Its so different from my first two pregnancies when I had no worries.
