Hello. I think I am heading for a loss right now. I went to the er on Christmas for some light spotting and cramps. My HCG level was 2405 at the er. I went to the dr on the 27th, had a repeat beta ran and it was 2850 so not good. I went for an ultrasound today and they show the sac but no fetal pole which the dr said at 5 weeks 2 days it might not. I have to go back on Jan 4th for another ultrasound to see if a fetal pole grew and if we have a heartbeat. I have been spotting since the vaginal ultrasound but Im assuming its from that, no cramping. Praying that we see a heartbeat and baby the 4th but I don't think it looks good with the HCG barely rising so I just wanted to go ahead and introduce myself.

I am sorry you are going through this. I went in for an U/S at what I thought would be 7 weeks and they didn't see anything. I thought I was headed for a M/C but they brought me in a week later and sure enough there was a baby and a heartbeat. My dates were way off! Do not give up hope yet! Good luck!

Don't give up! Basically, I had the exact same thing happen to me, other than the spotting and when I went back a week and a half later, we saw that lovely heartbeat! Keep hoping! Good luck!

HUGS! I am so sorry your having to go through this. Some ladies after their HCG reaches a certain number it stops doubling. As long as it's rising there is still hope hun. Praying they see a nice healthy bean & heartbeat when you go on the 4th!

I agree, don't give up. It is still early and your levels may have been checked in different labs.

Hang in there, will be thinking of you

Dont give up... I bet they use different labs and thats why your numbers are off.
Is your DR rechecking your levels to compair with their lab?

At 5 weeks with my daugter I had bleeding. They did a ultra sound and all they saw was a sac and fetal pole. I went back 2 weeks later and there was a strong heartbeat and baby was measuring right on.

Thank you all for the prayers. I am praying so hard that we see a healthy baby and heartbeat when we go January 4th. The spotting has stopped. The levels were drawn at two different places. The 2400 was at the ER and the 2850 was drawn at the lab at my doctors office

After HCG rises above 1000 it can start rising slower. I had slow rising HCG and am now 30 weeks pregnant. GL!

Thank you all for the replies. I have finally stopped spotting since the vaginal ultrasound. I have a deep feeling that we will see a baby the 4th, but i don't want to set myself up for heartache. My doctor is not checking my hcg levels again. Basically if we see a baby and heartbeat I am switching doctors. Basically I went to the er on Christmas for 2 spots freaking out, i went back to my doctor the 27th and before he even checked me he was VERY negative about the pregnancy. He checked me and did the pap, I had red blood which i hear is normal. He has been VERY negative since the first word to him and the ultrasound girl showed me the sac and i swear it had something in it and she said baby but when he called after the u/s he said he saw no fetal pole.

A good personality match is very important. I am going through a similar thing with my doctor and my miscarriage. She is crazy paranoid and it's driving me nuts. I highly recommend switching if you're able and do not like your current doctor.

I'm sorry you're going through all this, how scary =\ The fact that your levels were drawn at two different places could easily have something to do with it. And yeah, your doc sounds like a real winner... I'd probably switch too if I were in your position.
