Okay, I read on the other funny post that high testosterone can cause late/irregular ovulation. Does anyone know if there are any negatives to having low testosterone? My doc (not the RE, didn't mention it to him yet) sorta blew me off when I said that I was concerned I had low levels, since NEITHER of my parents make their own testosterone and that is a genetically inherited condition. My dad has to use super-powerful gel on his upper arms and my mom uses some that is not nearly as powerful (obviously). So when I mentioned that might be something to look into he said "well, you are ovulating regularly (obviously I am) and I am not thinking it would have anything to do with it." (aka: don't care lady!)
But my logic would follow that if my testosterone is off, it would likely throw other hormones out of wack. And I do have many symptoms of low testosterone (very little to no body hair, no sense of competition, low sex drive, weak fight or flight response). So I just wondered if anyone knew anything about it. I will prolly bring it up the RE on Tuesday, just in case. But they might have tested it anyway. TIA!

I have no idea, sorry =\ Just wanted to drop in and say that I hope they give you some answers. Definitely fight for testing for that if he's not willing to pony up!

Really, your doctor blew you off? I would 100% bring it up to your RE. They will most likely test for you. What does google say?

I have no knowledge of this, but theoretically, your reasoning is sound. If something that's "normal" is off, it could affect other things, like you say. The problem is that the human body is so complicated that they haven't discovered every symbiotic (not really the right word) relationship between the chemicals in our bodies. So, it might be that you're right and science doesn't know anything about it yet. I don't see how it could hurt to have it measured anyway and see where it stands.

Ash, all I can find on Google is that testosterone/DHEA levels and egg quality decreases with age... and I know Missy was taking DHEA to hopefully improve egg quality, so maybe low levels could play a role in this for you? I don't know- I agree with Missy. Talk to your RE and see if you can get tested.

Thanks ladies. That is all I could find on Google too. I am one of those who can't effectively search, because I get too distracted
But yeah, I going to talk to the RE about it, especially if everything comes out fine. I know that sometimes logic doesn't apply to the human body. But I do have a weird feeling my hormones are at play here. My mom also had a lot of losses and pregnancy issues and I wonder now if that was a player in her issues as well.

I agree I would bring it up with your RE. I know your hormone levels play a huge part in a lot of aspects. I hope your RE can run some tests and figure something out. Hugs!

Keep us updated, and I am curious to see what the doctors say for you.
I started taking the DHEA and it really helped me in so many ways. It helped with mood, and just overall I feel younger (if that makes any sense)... Plus I honestly believe that me getting pregnant 2 times after taking it is no coincidence. We were TTC for over a year with nothing then twice pretty much back to back? Hmmmmm... sounds like it brought some of my fertility back. Even if we decide not to TTC anymore I am going to keep taking the DHEA.

^^That is interesting! I will absolutely let you know what the docs are going to do or if there is something going on in there.
I always wonder, and I know that not many people on here have experience with it, but I worry that I messed something up in there when I was anorexic for years. I mean, hormones are regulated by having a period for years...why girls are irregular to start and then get regular after having a period for a couple years. And I missed my period entirely for SEVEN years while I was very ill. So I am terrified that it has something to do with my egg quality or my hormone levels. And again, the docs sorta glazed over it...but it is a real concern for me. I think they assume it was one of those "teenage blips" and was a year or something. But I was very sick, for a very long time. And I think that I screwed up my hormones BIG time. I mean, nothing was being produced for all those years and now, even though I am regular again, I worry that it DID hurt my eggs, even though we thought it hadn't because of Liam.
Sorry...that was a random off topic thing. But I have to get it out there, because I feel like this might have been my fault afterall

HUGS! I can't see it being your fault at all. Your hormone levels can get all out of whack very easily. I would defiantly have them check all your levels though and see if anything is off.

I doubt anything is your fault. The only way I would blame some woman for damaging her eggs is if she stabbed herself in the ovaries with a knife or something like that. Guilt can be crippling. I wish I knew how to say the right things. I am terrible at trying to convey how I deal with things to other people. To me, fault implies intent and that is obviously not part of this scenario.
My son is also named Liam, so I am sure your son is just as awesome as mine!

I doubt it's your fault too - try not to beat yourself up about it. I've found that RE's are much more willing to test for things that regular OB/GYNs tend to blow off or think are unimportant (and they also seem to understand/be more tolerant of us girls who have had losses and get paranoid about every little twitch....lol!). Hopefully yours will be willing to test the hormones for you!
