So I am unsure who has heard on the news about the birds falling from the sky, but it is driving me crazy that everyone is screaming that the world is coming to an end. On facebook, I have seen about 10 posts today about "OMG the world is ending!" or "Stock pile on food now!".
So there has been numerous recorded events of this happening all over the world for the past 30 years.... The media loves to blow things out of proportion and scare the masses.
Here is a link to read.
Here's The Truth About The Dead Birds Falling Out Of The Sky

I wish that link had actually offered an explanation, but you're right. People freak out over small little things.
Should we be storing food? Probably. Not just for widespread disasters, but personal ones (job losses, etc) too.
But no, I don't think dead birds falling from the sky means the world is going to end tomorrow.

Sorry for venting. With my anxiety, when people freak out, I freak out regardless if it scares me or not. Comes with the territory.
Our church actually teaches us to store food for emergencies like job loss and hurricanes, etc.

I just laugh at this! I love all the conspiracy theory crap people make up to go with this. Although I read about the fish that showed up dead in Arkansas and how they still said fishing was safe because it only affected the drum fish . . . I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not going to eat any fish where any fish are dying when they haven't exactly figured out why! LOL! The media will always blow things out of proportion.

Just tell them it's the aliens. The birds ran into the side of their ship or got caught in their wake.
May shut them up- may send them off another tangent.

Lol! My poor children have been subjected to overhearing people talk about it and are now scared that the world is ending. *sigh*
On the other hand, I am hungry and ironically cooking fish..... Lol.

In what way are you to stockpile food? I find this very interesting. I always had a lot of food in the house because I was afraid of the same thing but it was nothing church related. And then my husband did lose his job and I am so greatful we had all of this extra food, otherwise I am not sure how we would have eaten!

Missy, they say ideally we should have a year's supply of food and water for every person in the house.
Here's the church's website on how/why Family Home Storage
Although I'd really like to do this: Food Storage from Daily Bread- 25 Year Food Storage - 01-06-11 Of course, it's got a high initial cost (though, a lower actual cost than traditional storage), so we haven't done it yet.

That's a good site to check out for storage. I buy a lot of canned goods and constantly rotate them. Also, powdered milk, eggs, etc. too are good. We used to have a big pantry to store everything, but alas, no more. Oh and BUY IN BULK. Lol. Right now, we could survive 2 months without me shopping, possibly more. Our rental home is a LOT smaller than I would want it to be. *sigh*
We had wonderful friends back in Las Vegas (whom we adored!). We called them the super Mormons. Lol. They were experts at EVERYTHING. The wife came from a family of 16 or 17 children and she could build a house from scratch... by herself! She made her own baby formula from scratch to suppliment her milk when it got low for a period. She makes everything from scratch, even their bread for sandwiches. They bought a huge house with a basement (rare in Vegas) and had a huge storage room in the basement filled with food storage. It looked like a Costco in there. Anyway, I took a lot of money saving tips and ideas from her (although I prefer my bread machine instead of by hand, lol). I am all about the cheap!
