I see so many woman on JM raving about Answer, and talking about how bad FRER is...Well I bought a box of answer last month, and took my last answer this morning and a line showed up right away...I obsessed over it all day...Since getting a negative on my blood work, I figured i'd take the answer out of the case just to see what i Could see...I held it up to the light and you can see a pink line...Obviously it's a false positive, and i'm so annoyed...Last month I got a false positive on a FRER, but it was just the huge indent line (it's the only FRER i've ever seen with a big indent line)...As far as the answer goes, I can't even see an indent line, so i'm calling it a real false positive...For the record I took a FRER today and it was negative.

Yeah, I hate all preg tests. I got a false positive on both a FRER and an Answer last month. And I know they were false because I also had blood work (and an RE sonogram) to back it up. Obviously they enjoy messing with our heads Sorry you are having a tough time. From now on...I swear I need to switch to all digital. Those line ones make me nuts.

I agree. Looking at lines and trying to figure out if you see something or not is insane. We go hrough enough. I always opt for the Digital just to put my mund at ease. Walgreens has their own brand of Digi's that is cheaper and works great.

Ugh, how annoying!! I use the dollar store ones, after like 15 days of testing(I KNEW I was pregnant) I finally got a FAINT line but couldn't tell if my eyes were playing tricks on me soI tested again the next day and same thing. Ran out and bought a first response and that line was definitly there! It's so hard sometimes to know!

Yesterday I got a colored evap on a dollar store test, an evap on and IC and a false postive on an answer...what are the chances? (I know they were evaps because they didn't show till the tests were dry)...The answer line is the only one that showed up right away *sigh*

wow that is really frustrating!

I always had good luck with Answer brand...it's what I use to see a better, nicer line after I get one on a IC.

The only thing I can say is that the Answers are VERY sensitive. I have personally got a BFP with a hcg of 5 and a friend got a BFP with a hcg of 4. Most OB offices consider a beta under 25 to be negative so it's possible since you're very early that it's positive but since your hcg was under 25 the OB's office is calling it negative.

wow Alicia, that gives me some more hope!!! I've been looking at the answer strip now in day light today, and there's for sure a pink line...It's the craziest thing i've ever seen! I took an answer out of the same package last month and didn't get a line...I didn't retest today, but boy am I having pregnancy symptoms (which very well could be from the progesterone)...I might try to hold my pee for awhile and test this afternoon.

This is what I was saying yesterday.... I have a feeling your levels were not in the labs range of a positive. Before you stop your progesterone take another Sunday morning if there are any in the house.

Just my thoughts, The answer tests are very sensitive, even more than frer. With my pgs I took a frer and an answer the line was always darker on the answer when the frer was a squinter or a bfn. With my pg in October I took an answer at 10 dpo in the morning bfn, in the afternoon bfn, that night I got the faintest line I thought it was an indent, so I tested the next day in the afternoon and got a very faint pink line, at 13 dpo I went in and my beta was 24, so at 10 and 11 dpo it must have been really low, and had a regular Drs office done my beta at 13 dpo they might have said it was negative since it was lower than 25, luckly it wasnt a regular Drs office. But anyways, so the answers are very sensitive, hope this helps.

I'm highly suspicious that the Answer tests and FRER are actually the same exact tests. Every tests has different batches, obviously, and some of them have more antibodies that detect the hormone on them than others.

It is possible that since you had the blood work done yesterday that you've had implantation firmly set in, and now your hcg has gone up from whatever was flagged as negative (5?) to 15-20+, and now you're getting stronger test lines. Test again tomorrow! If you're still getting lines tomorrow, definitely call your OB on Monday.
