Hi all, sorry I haven't been around. I didn't mean to worry anyone. It has been an eventful couple of days.
Saturday night I had some pretty bad chest pains that made my whole arm ache. My heart was racing and skipping beats. Made me panic more than anything. Sunday, I ended up taking half my kids into the clinic because they have pink eye. While I was there, I got checked out. They did an EKG which was normal but they showed my heart was indeed skipping beats and they could hear a heart murmur. They told me not to worry and just follow up with my OB today, which I already had an appt scheduled. They gave me an aspirin and sent me home.
Today I went to my OB appt and the first thing they noted was I'm spilling +2 protein, which isn't unusual for me but concerning when you are pregnant. Blood pressure was 156/72. The doctor came in and started saying that she knows I talked to the perinatologist about all my risks and then she started listing them, as if I had never heard any of it before. She then asked me if I was sure I wanted to continue on with this pregnancy, because it wasn't too late to change my mind. WHAT?!! She said that I may make it to 20wks and have to deliver to save my life. I told her yes, that I was aware of the risks and that yes I had spoken to the perinatologist and he told me my risks were no greater than if this was my first baby. She just said ok and then proceeded to try and find the heartbeat on doppler, which she couldn't, so she did a vaginal ultrasound. That was about the only good thing that came of the appointment. The baby actually looks like a baby now. It was moving around and waving.
After that, she took my BP again and asked what my previous perinatologist did. He started me on BP meds at 16 weeks. She wants me to start on them now to see if it will lower my BP, which I didn't think was too bad) and slow my heart rate down (it was over 100). I still have an appt with a Cardiologist Thursday but was able to talk her out of sending me to the nephrologist so that's one less thing to worry about. I also talked to her about what we would do the further along I get and I was relieved to hear that she will be sending me to the perinatologist more and seeing her less. I just have to hold out until the end of February for my anatomy scan.
I'm sorry if I worried anyone. I've been laying down most of the weekend and my phone is only half working. I'm hoping the BP meds will help my heart stop pounding and I'll be able to relax a little. Here is a pic of my little Smurf.

Don't tell my DH, but I think it's a girl too. I texted him a pic at work today and he responded "oh, HE'S so cute". Next month I should find out.

Rebecca, I was just checking in to see how you made out and how you were doing. I am so happy your little bean is doing good. Such a cute picture. It looks like a little girl. Please try to take it easy and take care of yourself. I agree with the others. I don't like your OB.

It's good (VERY good) to hear you're ok, but I'm very very concerned that there's a huge risk with you having to deliver so early to save your life... are they going to hospitalize you the further along you get to prevent that? (prevent having something happen to you and/or smurf) Rebecca that is so scary, it sounds like you have an aweful lot on your plate right now with the future...
It's awefully ballsy of that dr to say that about smurf, very disappointed! SHOCKED! Mortified actually, but that makes me think your condition is very serious that she'd mention such a horrible thing like that. What are the options for medication control? Is it going to be able to be controlled with medication and for how long?
How serious is this Rebecca? How is DH handling all of this? I'm sure he's TERRIFIED for you and smurf.
Sorry for all the questions, but very concerned about YOU

So glad you are holding steady right now, Rebecca! Please take it easy... we don't want you losing your smurf to save your life! I can't believe your OB asked that. Did she think you got pregnant by accident? You know your risks.
I love that you got another picture. It's amazing what a few weeks can do.

Celena, please don't worry about me. I have to be honest and say, my OB is a complete moron. I saw a perinatologist for my other pregnancies and although he is over an hour away now (he moved and we moved) I found out he comes up here once a month so I may start seeing him again at 20wks. My OB has never really dealt with anyone that was already high risk before getting pregnant. I was high risk with my first and nothing has changed, other than I'm older now.
The perinatologist that I did meet with, and who is here all the time, said that he's not worried about me. He said I didn't even need to see a nephrologist. I will be closely monitored after 20wks with nst's and biophysical profiles. and growth scans every 3wks. The peri with my last baby was so on top of stuff, I got steroid shots at the right time and everything turned out fine. We knew going into this the risks of another premature baby, but after being told we have the same chances as before, we both decided to try for a take home baby.
I'm just frustrated that the peri I like is so far away. He would also save me from seeing 5 different doctors. I just need to relax until my anatomy scan in Feb then we'll decide which doctor we'll be seeing more often.

There are ALLOT of moronic doctor's out there and apparently I keep getting referred to them?
I'm glad to hear that the peri you know does make visits there, so that you can see him. At least he's someone you know and knows you, everything about your history!
pretty sure you're right, a regular OB doesn't deal with high risk so it's just too much for them to deal with anything outside of a sunshine and butterfly pregnancy/
