I started working out a little to try to lose some weight. Now I have never been to work out ever in my life and working out is such a chore for me. Like I whine and complain about going to the gym and it is just downstairs in my building.

The other day I did 1 whole mile on the stair stepper and I was so proud of myself. I was huffing and puffing at the end and wanted to give up but I did it!

Today in the gym the show Deal or No Deal was on. I love that game show! Before I knew I was super tired I did a whole 1 1/2 miles on the stair-stepper! Yea!!!!!!

Yup, I am babbling.

Good job Missy! You know how I lost so much weight? drinking water, almost constantly...It really helps!! It makes you eat less, plus it's good for you.

That's awesome, Missy!

I always used to watch Food Network while I worked out. It made no sense, but I guess it distracted me I also get really competitive with myself- like I always have to do the same or better as my last workout. I love that feeling of accomplishment

ETA: Not that I have worked out in a loooooooong time!

Good Job Missy. I found out when I used to work that if I watched something on tv or read a book if I was on a treadmill. I used to timed my workout when the Prices Right game show was on. I don't work out as much as I used to. I work for the local YMCA and I can't stand my job anymore. As soon as I am off I just want to leave the place.

Missy at the gym I go to they have a theater room and they play a different movie every day. I throw a towel over the timer and I usually go 1-2 hours on the elliptical machines If I'm not in there I can barely go 30 minutes so it does make a difference.

You have to be careful though because there is a problem with drinking too much water.

Hi Missy! I'm trying to work out too and I just do P90X which is MUCH more interesting than a treadmill or climber or other machine. Whenever I'm on them, I keep staring at the timer or distance. I also suggest covering it with a towel.

Also, I understand about the diet coke but am willing to bet that you will lose more pounds if you stop drinking it (might have to wean yourself, because of the caffeine). I know two people who quit drinking the diet stuff and lost weight JUST from doing that without exercise or modifying their diet.

Great job Missy! I just started the Couch to 5K program on my treadmill yesterday, and I watched TV while doing it. It made the time fly by! It's a great program that is supposed to turn even the laziest person (me lately!) into a runner in 9 weeks. We'll see...

Also on the diet coke - a friend of mine used to drink diet coke ALL. THE. TIME. She cut it out, started counting calories but nothing real drastic, and has lost 25 pounds since September!
