Hi all. I hope you do not mind me asking you guys a few questions.

My first appointment is tomorrow. All they are doing is probably setting up my new info in my chart and doing some blood work. I will get an u/s later on this month or at my next one month appt.

When we found out we were pregnant with Ethan, I didn't go to the doctor until probably 10 weeks. That was when I had my initial blood draws and stuff. I have no idea really what went on then because it was my first pregnancy.

When I had my miscarriage...I had never even had my first appt until I started bleeding. I went in the next day asap. I was supposed to be 9 weeks but the baby had stopped growing at 7.5 weeks.

They took blood but I was too distraught to ask what all they were taking it for. They didn't draw it until after they had did my ultrasound which confirmed the no heartbeat/movement.

For my question....do yall know what all they usually take your blood for at your first appt? Like do they automatically do beta testing on it?? what about progesterone testing? Or is this something in addition I need to ask for?

I really appreciate the help on this.

With my pg, they didn't automatically test beta or progesterone levels. The bloodwork they did was to check that whether I was immune or had been exposed to certain diseases, what my blood cell counts were, routine things like that. I would ask what they are testing for and request anything else you want to add.

Being pregnant after a loss makes us all more scared when we go to the doctors. If you would like to get betas done, ask them to do it and explain why.

((Hugs)) and update us when you get back!

I asked my dr after the D&C (and will confirm at my next followup appt tomorrow) how they will moniter my next pregnancy. She said I would come in right after we get the BFP and would moniter my levels until I am far enough along to be monitered by U/S and will then be monitered that way. So I assume I'll have blood work every week or two until about 6 weeks (when they can see on U/S??) and then have a U/S at each appt til we can hear the heartbeat by doppler I think. Good luck, maybe ask your dr what their plan is for you this pregnancy and how they will moniter you.

When I call my doctor and let him know I am pregnant he brings me in right away for a hcg blood test and progesterone test.

Good luck with your appointment.
