Ever since I started charting in April after our loss, my LP has been 12 days almost every single month. I think one month it was 11 (but it has been awhile) and another month it was 13.

Can you have progesterone problems even with a normal LP?

I got my beta results back. It was 4406 on Friday and the nurse told me that my doctor said I am prob 3-4 weeks along which sounds right since I think I ovulated on New Years.

Then I asked for my progesterone level and the nurse couldn't find it. Then said it doesn't look like they did one. I asked the girl 2 or 3 times to MAKE SURE she was going to take an extra vile of blood for it. And now they are telling me they didn't take one. I don't know if they actually didn't take it or if the nurse has no idea what is going on.

I am pretty upset about it though because I want to do everything I can to make our baby stick.

I don't know what to do now.

----

UPDATE 01/19/11

Okay so a different nurse called me back. Apparently the one yesterday read off the wrong levels to me from my PREVIOUS PREGNANCY.

As of Friday (14 dpo - 3 weeks 6 days) my levels were:

Progesterone 8.9
HCG 46

They are sending me for another beta today. I gotta go up to the hospital in an hour.

The nurse said the doctor said my progesterone level was ok?? I thought anything under 10 couldn't sustain a pregnancy.

I feel like I am bothering the hell out of them but I called them back and said that I read anything under 10 isn't good and asked if they would be opposed to giving me progesterone supplements. I hope they don't fight me on it....ugh. I feel like they are thinking I am trying to override everything the doctor says but I just want to make sure everything is ok!
----------
UPDATE #2 - 01/19/11

The nurse called back and called me in a prescription for prometrium! YAAAAY! I am so happy they didn't fight me on it or something silly.

Also I got back my second beta results from the bloodwork I had earlier today at the hospital. My hcg today was 564 so it looks like it has gone up considerably since Friday. I know it has been more than 2 days since I had them done on Friday but it looks like 564 is in the good range for a pregnancy that is between 4-5 weeks.

I feel less stressed now!

I reallly appreciate you guys replying with your thoughts/experiences and putting up with me updating on this so much. I am so thankful to have friends like you who understand. <3

I would call your doctor back and ask if they can get you in to do a progesterone check. HUGS! I know doctors offices can be VERY frustrating.

I would walk into their office and request a prescription for the progesterone. It is much easier for them to not deal with it over the phone, but in person the face to face contact encourages different behavior.

I am sure they would do another blood draw.

I called back and left a message telling them to please re-check my chart to make sure I didn't have one done and if not to please let me know so I can go back in and have one done. I just told them that I had a m/c in April and want to prevent it from happening again if possible.

I really hope that does the trick and they don't try to talk me out of getting one. I know a lot of places don't start testing for things until you have had 3 losses. Sorry but I don't want to have 3 losses to find out it was something I could prevent you know?

If I don't hear from them by noon I am going to go in there in person and ask for another draw.

Missy - Can you take progesterone even if you don't have a problem with it? It seems like too much could be bad too. Right now I don't even know if I have a problem with it...thats what I am trying to find out.

I'm not an expert on progesterone, but i'm pretty sure that progesterone will NOT hurt you or a pregnancy, even if you don't really need it

I hope they don't give you a hard time. As far as I know, Megan is right, there is no harm in taking progesterone.

Melissa, I just read your update. I don't want to scare you but with the loss I had in December my Progesterone level was 8 and my doctor was really worried about the Progesterone level being that low. They put me on pills right away. I would call your doctor and see if they will put you on something for your Progesterone right away.

Oh my goodness, I hope everything works out! It's hard not to but don't feel like you are bothering them, think of it like this: you are THEIR boss, they have work because of patients like YOU. Their JOB is to serve YOU, so if you have questions/concerns they need to take the time to speak with you fully about them! Keep us updated, hugs!

After you go to the hospital for your blooddraw stop by their offices for a prescription of progesterone.

Can you really leave your health care up to a lady that read your chart wrong in the first place?

I hope they don't give you a hassle about progesterone. It will not hurt a healthy pregnancy...my RE immediately put me on it without even looking at ANY levels. He said that it absolutely doesn't hurt. I hope they get it worked out. I know that you CAN have low progesterone and a totally healthy pregnancy, depending on your body, you could have been low the entire pregnancy with your earlier child (and never known). But I think they do like it be over 10.

8.9 is super low I am glad they are doing something. My DR said they want to see anything over 15 for pregnancy and anything over 10 to confirm Ovulation (because they checked it when I was not pregnant).
