Last Jan. I got a BFP. We weren't sure of when AF had last been around, so they scheduled an ultrasound so they could date. In late Feb. I went in (at this point I believe I was 10 weeks. No more than a few days/a week off). At the u/s, they saw no heartbeat, but for obvious reasons, the u/s tech didn't really want to say much or show me much. The next day I went in to see my OB. She also did a vaginal u/s and said she saw nothing, not even a fetal pole, but the tech had reported a fetal pole but no heartbeat. They checked my HcG levels and they were wicked high, and was where I would be at 10 weeks. I got a D&C the next day, as it was obviously not a viable pregnancy.

I am now pregnant again and went to the doc today. There the nurse told me that I was never carrying a fetus. That a baby never developed. (This whole time I had assumed that the baby was alive, then passed). But the nurse was telling me that nothing really formed. My body just believed it was pregnant (hence the AWFUL morning sickness the whole time).

My question is: Has anyone ever had this type of m/c? If you have, have you then went on to carry a baby normally? A "normal" pregnancy?

Sorry this is kind of long!!

I had a ectopic pregnancy where the baby attached to the cervix. There is no way the baby would have ever grown or had a heartbeat yet I was feeling very pregnant and had strong signs. Also my betas were more than doubling, so in every other way I was pregnant. So, to answer your question, yes it has happened to others.

Congratulations on your new pregnancy and lots of rainbow dust to you!

Hugs! I am sorry for your loss. It sounds to me like you had a missed miscarriage. I also had one of those. Your body doesn't realize the baby is no longer alive and continues to think that your pregnant. I know there are other ladies who have gone on to have a healthy & happy pregnancy. Maybe you should ask the ladies of the Pregnancy after loss board. Here is a link. Congrats on the new pregnancy And if you wouldn't mind could you put (preg ment) in the title

It sounds like you may have had a blighted ovum/missed miscarriage. I haven't experienced that, but I know of several women who have and have gone on to have healthy pregnancies.

Congratulation on your new pregnancy

I had a missed miscarriage.... They took a beta BT said the levels looked great, nothing to worry about and then did an abdominal ultrasound and the dr was able to see the HB, but radilolgy could not . they then did a vaginal untrasound and were nto able to find a heartbeat... But my body was still producing HCG..
