So I talked to the nurse practitioner who I've been seeing. I have an elevated prolactin level and she wants me to follow up with my primary care who might then refer me to an endocrinologist. I guess this elevated level can interfere with ovulation. The thing is is that I've had this hormone beelevated for a while. I remember way back when my doc had told me and joked and said when I had a baby I shouldn't have any trouble nursing. They werent
overly concerned.

So she wants me to keep trying and doing what we're soon as far as ttc. She told me to have blood drawn next Thursday or Friday since I told her about a
darker line on the OPK. They'll check my progesterone levels. She didn't want to do anything like clomid or follicle scans until after 6 months. GRR! She said that's more for people with infertility/fertility problems.

I'm trying to be ok with this but wish I didn't have to worry about all of
this. And now this elevated prolactin has me nervous.

So what do u think? In a way I think I'm wanting results super fast so I'm trying to do whatever I can to help me get a BFP. I guess I need to give it more time though?? I'm on my 3rd cycle since my loss.

I found this on another website
taking prolactin lowering medication like bromocriptine or cabergoline will help for fertility.

I would think that this could possibly be an easy fix. (let's hope!) When is your next doctors appointment?

My aunt had that and they started her on something and she got pregnant right away. I'll have to find out what it is and let you know

Thanks! Yes, I'm hoping its an easy fix. I dont really have any symptoms of missed periods or anything. Plus I got pregnant easily with my daughter and my loss. I've had this elevated hormone for years.

On Monday, I'm going to call my primary care doctor to see what she thinks we should do.

I had elevated prolactin levels too. It can be either from a (benign) pituitary tumor, like what Missy posted above or from thyroid issues. Either way it is easily treated (with either bromocriptine or thyroid hormone). Mine was due to thyroid issues, and as soon as my TSH was under control, the prolactin went back into the normal range. I think that now that you know this is going on, you should be able to be treated quickly.

Glad to hear someone else has gone through this. Are the tumors definitely benign? I was beginning to freak out a bit when I heard that. I've had my thyroid looked at before and all was well. I guess I'll see what the doctor says. Thanks for your input.

My RE said that the tumors are pretty much always benign and that I would have to get an MRI, but it was absolutely nothing to worry about. They just want to see that the tumor is there to complete the diagnosis and then they will put you on the bromocriptine. I really hope that this turns out to be a super quick fix for you
