So my 2nd D&C was 1/7/11...I bled lightly for a couple days and then it turned into spotting around the one week mark. The spotting was sometimes turned to light bleeding but only for like one pad change and then it would be spotting again. At the two week mark I literally only had like 1-2 drops the WHOLE day for 2-3 days and then had 2 days of NO bleeding/spotting at all. Then I started spotting again (I think on Sat or sun, I'm kicking myself for not writing it down) but chalked it all up to us having had sex for the first time since the D&C. Well yesterday the bleeding was light again, sometimes bright red, but sometimes brown and I had small nagging stomach cramps. Today it's the same thing, more bleeding (but it's not a regular flow type for me) and the dull cramps in my stomach that are always there but don't get worse and it really is not painful at all but I do notice it. Also, in case it matters my skin is breaking out like it usually does around AF.
So now I'm worried that not everything is out or something because they were SO adament about me not TTC when everything else I've read says it doesn't matter (which makes me wonder if they are even sure if the 2nd D&C was successful because at my followup she said "well, what the lab wrote was kinda funny....it really was just SUCH a small piece that came out) and I have no idea if this is normal, or if it could just be AF but she said not to expect AF to come til 4-6 weeks AFTER my HCG levels were below 5 and as of last thursday they were 38...I just don't know what to make of this. What do you guys think? Am I even making sense? I feel like I'm crazy!

I would go to the doctor and ask for an ultrasound. Just to make sure that there is nothing left in there. That can cause an infection and lots of problems so they should keep an eye on that. HUGS!

I agree about the u/s. That's what they did for me to make sure I had no retained tissue when my levels were dropping slowly.

I did ask about a u/s right after the d&C and she said we'd have to wait a couple weeks if I wanted one because after a D&C things in there are "ruffled" and we wouldn't be able to get a clear picture til a couple weeks out. If I am still bleeding and cramping tomorrow I will be calling them for sure.

Hmmm I'm not sure why they couldn't do one. They did 2 after my D&C the first one a week after and then another at 6 weeks. Maybe if they won't do one try the ER.

When I was still bleeding from the MC, they refused to rule out retained particles because I had bleeding. It's not that they saw anything, they just couldn't say it was all gone until I stopped.
I have been having spotting/bleeding for 2.5 weeks no with a two week break before that. I don't think it's abnormal, but if you're worried, you should call the doctor or go to a ER where they can't refuse you.

After my D&C in October, I had light bleeding/spotting for about a week. It stopped for about 2 weeks and then I had some more spottng for a few days. It took me 8 weeks to get my first AF which was not fun. HEAVY cramping and bleeding which is not normal for me. But I think what you are going through is "normal" after having a D&C. I think you just need to give it more time and let your body and hormones try and get back to normal.

Ok I am just worried I guess since I had to have 2 D&C's since it wasn't all out the first time and I was told that bleeding after 2 weeks after a D&C wasn't normal so now my mind automatically goes to "well then maybe they didn't get it all still!!" I'm going to call tomorrow, the things they are telling me aren't adding up, I don't knwo what to do I love my dr and nurse practitioner have been with them since I was 15, so coming up on 10 years I just don't want to switch but I need some clarification and answers :/

Yea, it never hurts to call if u have a question. I would think that if there was anything left you would have started to have fevers from infection. But call, if nothing else to ease ur mind.

Rachel, I would call your doctor and just explain how you are feeling and what is going on. After my d&c I had a lot of complications and got a infection which I ended up in the hospital for. I never ran a fever with my infection after the d&c. After I got out of the hospital my doctor ordered a saline infusion sonography to make sure there wasn't any tissue left over.

I agree with Stacey. I would call your doctor and just tell them you feel like something is off and you would really liked to have an ultrasound to make sure they did get everything. Hugs! I am so sorry your having to go through this.

My first period after the m/c was when I still had hCG in my system. It started on a Wednesday and Friday early evening my hCG was 14.
I did read that you have to have 20 days of no bleeding to be sure that it's a period (and not more bleeding from the m/c). I did have 20 days from bleeding stopping to my period coming, but it sounds like you haven't? Hopefully they'll give you some good answers today when you call.

OK the dr called back and said it is fine as long as I'm not bleeding heavily...I tell ya though, I am seriously considering switching Dr's because they tell me one thing but then a week later they'll tell me something else conflicting. Liek after the D&C they said you will bleed off and on up to two weeks, anything more then that and it's a problem. So I call them to say I'm still bleeding and now it's not a problem?!? ugh I just can't imagine switching right now and explaining everything all over again..I may wait until this whole miscarriage thing is over and my levels are back down to switch if I do at all.
