I lost my baby November 20th at 10w2d. I was really hoping for an "oops" last month (we were preventing because our doctor told us to wait until the 2nd cycle and that one was the 1st).
I'm currently in the first cycle where we have the "OK" to TTC. Which also happens to be the last cycle before we get into due dates in winter months. For various reasons, we would prefer to not have a winter baby. When I had asked my husband when we would TTC again, he said he'd like to wait until this summer.
We just switched our youngest from a high chair to a booster seat at the table. It made me so sad to see my baby sitting at the table like a big girl. I asked my husband after dinner if we could have a late October baby .... And he said okay!!!
He said that seeing our daughter with her newborn cousin this last month has made him think that we need a baby brother or sister for our daughter. She loves babies so much and just loves to sit and gently touch her cousin.
But if we don't get pregnant this month, it's back to WTTC so that we don't get a winter baby. I've never gotten pregnant the first month of TTC before... I'm really hoping this is my month, because otherwise I'll be passing my due date without being pregnant again.

So sorry for you loss. It seems silly in the grand scheme of things, but I really wanted a spring baby. The baby I just lost had an April DD. Everyone in my family, children included are fall/winter babies.
Hopefully the October DD will be a sticky and you will not have to WTTC!

Thanks everyone!
I haven't seen any definite temperature shift so far this cycle. So I'm hoping we're still good given that we just started trying yesterday!
Who knows, maybe my reasons for preferring to not have a winter baby will get overruled by my not wanting to pass the due date without being pregnant. But I'm guessing my paranoia over things that might go wrong in the winter will still trump that.

I know that if I have another loss or if I'm not pregnant this time next year, I'll go for a winter baby anyway. But right now I have too many worries/fears surrounding a baby born in the winter.
My family gets so sick in the winter (so far we've had two bouts of strep, RSV, a week long stomach bug that made my underweight preschooler lose noticeable weight, and several colds) and I worry how that would affect a newborn. Both RSV and vomiting for a week would be very serious for a newborn. I have no idea if there is any truth to it, but I read somewhere that more babies die inutero in car accidents than in the first year of life (and that the risk goes up later in pregnancy). I'm already nervous driving on winter roads without worrying about the risk of it causing me to lose another baby.
Then there's the weather:
I took that picture a little over a month ago, looking out at our deck. I have to take my current children on the bus with me to doctor's appointments. So we have to walk through that kind of snow to get to the bus stop (sidewalks aren't cleared once the snow gets heavy) and then wait in sub-zero temps. With how frequent appointments are at the end of pregnancy, I don't want to drag the kids through that so often.
Not to mention my fear of going into labor during a snow storm. It could easily take an hour to do what is normally a 20 minute drive to the hospital. Plus risk of sliding off the road into a snowbank. Both my children have needed resuscitation at birth, so I don't want a baby born on the freeway.
My mom is Queen of Doom in how much she worries, and I obviously take after her. I think my husband once called me the Princess of Peril?

Lol I honestly would try not to worry so much about all of it. My sister had my nephew November 24th this past year and she also has a 3 & 6 year old and they have had the flu, strep and lots of virus and the baby is fine Babies have a better immune system (not sure why). I know it's hard to worry but I wouldn't let that worry stop you from having a baby in the winter if that is what you want.

Hi and welcome....can I ask you a question? Where the heck do you live? That kind of snow only comes around in the most northern states, canada and alaska.....are you up north? I can see why you would be worried about that. I have had 5 babies between october and january and non of them have ever had major health problems relating to seasonal colds. Maybe I have just been lucky....

Welcome, and I'm sorry for your loss.
I can understand about being paranoid about the winter months--that's a lot to factor it
I hope you get your BFP this cycle, but stick around anyway if you don't! We have ladies in all stages here!
