On December 23 i had a d and c for a missed miscarriage. The week previous i had a sonogram and measured three weeks behind. I should have been almost 9 weeks and i only measured 6. They did hcg test and my numbers where decreasing. It has been almost 7 weeks now and i not had a period yet. Ive had very little pink and brownish spotting a few times when i have wiped the last week so i thought my period was coming but still nothing. I have taken a few pregnancy test that have came out positive. I would appreciate if any of you ladies have any advice. How long did it take your period to come back after d and c? we are anxious to see another positive and its so frustrating.

I'm so sorry for your loss It can take 2 months or longer for your period to arrive after a loss/D&C. 7 weeks is a long time for you to still have hcg in your system, though. (It can happen without anything being wrong- it took me 11 weeks for my hcg to get to negative and my period to arrive after my D&C).

I think it is reasonable for you to call your doctor since you are 7 weeks out and still getting positive pregnancy tests. I would ask for weekly blood draws to follow your hcg levels down to negative and an ultrasound to make sure there is no tissue left in your uterus from the pregnancy. I hope your period arrives soon and you can TTC.

I agree with the PP, they should check your levels because that will be more telling probably. Is it possible that you're pregnant again, like are you preventing? I got my period 4.5 weeks post D&E.

If you haven't stopped spotting for longer than 2 weeks since your D&C and are still getting postive tests, it could be that you have retained tissue left over....It took me just about 2 months after both of my miscarriages (d&C and natural) for me to get my first period...I would for sure call your doctor about it.

I also had hcg in my system for a long time and it was because I had retained tissue after my D&C. I would ask for an ultrasound and blood draws. Retained tissue can lead to infection and you don't want that..
It took 5 weeks for me to get my first post-D&C AF (and I still had hcg in my system).

Levels go down at a similar rate that they went up. I know mine were dropping by half about every two days. So it doesn't seem to abnormal that you're still getting positive tests. But I would go in and have them do two tests to makes sure that your numbers are dropping at an appropriate rate.

I would call your doctor and go in and be checked out. I did not get AF after my first loss which I had to have a D&C for until I went on medicine to bring on AF. It had been 8+ weeks so they started me on meds to get her to come. HUGS! I know it's very frustrating when our bodies aren't doing what we want them to.

So sorry for your loss I would just ask for an ultrasound and/or blood draw because your tests are still positive, are they blaring positive or just faint lines? Better safe then sorry since retained tissue can cause infection.

Well I don't know about this.. if her rates were halving every two days she should have been negative long ago (you'll see if you do the math). And with a D&C there's a huge drop right after the procedure and THEN a gradual decline.. I know mine went from 150,000+ to 11,000 the day after the D&C.

((Hugs)) you need to go see your doctor. Either you are pregnant again or your like the other girls said there is retained tissue which can lead to infection.

I am sorry for your loss and that you are going through this.

I guess that would make since for a D&C. I had a natural miscarriage and I know that my levels from before I passed the baby to after everything had passed still was pretty gradual.

D&C will change the rate of level drop since they remove everything instead of letting nature take its course. I would call your dr either way to find out what is going on. It is possible if you have been TTC that you got pregnant again before your first period could come back.

I agree with the rest of the ladies. You should call your doctor to see if you retained any tissue. I ended up with an infection and in the hospital from my d&c in August.

I have no experience with D&Cs, I'm sorry I'm not any help. I just wanted to say that the girls here are super smart, their advice is probably pretty sound. "Talk to your doctor" is good advice no matter what the problem is I'm with Katie, did you call your doctor? I see you're new to Just Mommies, I hope you're still around!
